That may have been Bo Ramsey, who isn’t in her band any more.
rachel8375ParticipantJust read that. Man, that sucks.
rachel8375ParticipantI am still depressed about having to miss this concert-I had a great seat, and was totally ready for it, but unfortunately, family illness and the gawdawful weather kept me home. I live way out in the sticks, so the drive would’ve been treacherous, to say the least. It sounds like my dream concert–“Motherless Children” is one of my favorites. Glad it was a night to remember for all of you who did attend, though!
rachel8375ParticipantCharlie Louvin. Caught him at the Alabama Theater when he opened for her in Birmingham last time, and he was wonderful. That said, I’m looking forward to seeing Buick 6.
rachel8375ParticipantAgreed, Philthy. Songs resonate differently for me as years go by, and they take on new shades of meaning as I learn more and experience more in life. I think the best songwriters know how to tap into the universality–sure, “Little Rock Star” may’ve been inspired by one of the crop of young, self-destructive rockers out there, but I can see it applying to any self-destructive person who has never grown up, whether they’re on a stage or working at a 7-11. That Dylan quote sums it up perfectly.
rachel8375ParticipantAnd happy holidays to both of you, too. May this year bring only good things to you and yours.
rachel8375ParticipantI got in touch with Red Mountain Entertainment, and they say the tix go on sale the 24th of January, so I got my question answered.
rachel8375ParticipantYou ever thought of writing professionally, Ray? That was lovely. Happy Thanksgiving, all.
rachel8375ParticipantI agree with the universality of the song, and had that feeling brought home to me when I was sitting in the back seat of a car after my father died. It had been expected, but there was still that feeling she was talking about of sitting in the corner with all of the friends and family, and having nothing to say as I rode back home. Death, whether expected or not, does the same sort of things to the ones left behind. I’d have to put Pineola pretty high on my list of favorite Lucinda songs if I were making a list, just for the fact that she totally nailed the feeling of being left behind in the wake of someone’s passing, and that’s something most, if not all of us will face at some point in our lives.
rachel8375ParticipantStrange that Amazon was listing a shipping date of 10/20 for me when I pre-ordered on September 25. I ended up canceling the order and going with Best Buy.
rachel8375ParticipantWhy would someone vote for McCain/Palin, even though they were a Hillary Clinton supporter? Because they’re voting with their reproductive organs, not their brains. 😯 The level of stupidity that people show sometimes makes me wish I could turn in my human card.
rachel8375ParticipantCongratulations!
rachel8375ParticipantThose may be from PBS, in which case I think you may be outta luck.
rachel8375Participant“American Dream” is also a possibility
rachel8375ParticipantI haven’t been to any of these shows on this current tour, and so you’ll have to take my comments with a grain of salt or two. We have no clue what else is going on in her life. and what pressures may be prompting these “meltdowns”. I do agree that she HAS to tour in order to survive. Most musicians do. There may be things going on within her family that are stressing her out. I do know that her sister has a chronic illness that will likely end her life early (chronic pancreatitis), and I also know that Lucinda has helped her sister out financially over the last several years. I have no idea if what her audience is seeing is related to something of that nature, but my point is this: We have no idea what else is in Lucinda’s mind when she walks out on stage every night. We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. From dealing with a loved one with a chronic illness myself, that can stress you out beyond belief. Of course, I have no idea if this is contributing to some of the problems people are talking about, but I thought I would toss my two cents in nonetheless. As I’ve said, take the above with a grain or two of salt, and if my comments come off as seeming like an apologist, then so be it.
