YakParticipant
Very nearly a month now & I still can’t articulate my feelings for this record.
It makes my heart flail. I’m a cynic & must confess I bought into the whole tortured artist thing that the press often portray. Rather unfairly (as I obviously do not know Lucinda) I assumed her insight/vulnerability & ability to sear me with her lyrics came from a tortured soul. I worried that an obviously happy Lu would somehow damage her writing. Oh boy, was I wrong!
As I say early days but confident this will be become my favourite album(after Essence which is MY album). I can’t dissect each track – it’s still too raw & I’m too in love & still delighting in discovering each one anew.
But the guitars, gawd the guitars………AND I still have Kitchen Tapes & 4 unreleased tracks to look forward too (could be some time til I get to them as still revelling in the beauty of the original Blessed.)
GOD BLESS LUCINDA WILLIAMS xx
( and Mr O)YakParticipantCan’t wait for new record.
1/3 that’ll be 1st March then? Rather than 3rd Jan? Wouldn’t it be great if us Brits & Yanks had a common language 😉And yeap another vote here for European tour 2011. Would make my year 😀
YakParticipantThank-you!!!
YakParticipant^^ Thank-you. I enjoyed ‘your rant’. I understand as I am still raving to all & sundry about it myself. Nice to hear how approachable Mama* was and that Tom thought in the top 3. She is my favourite artist & I don’t think I could meet her – I’d be a stuttering wreck. Well done you.
Glad you mentioned fans clambouring for more. Another poster on another thread felt fans were unappreciative which I thought gave wrong impression. Given nature of auditorium I felt people were simply respectful of others behind them. Lucinda was certainly appreciative of reception as ‘further North you go comment’ attests. Also felt set list was pitched for seated gig after previous slight concerns in Lucerne etc. The audience certainly rose as one for the finale and I’m sure I was not the only person horase on the Sunday. Yes a different gig from the all out rock fest of Barrowland the last time Lu was up here but no less impressive/appreciated.
*For those not there on the night Lucinda referred to herself as being happy & ‘if Mama is happy everybody else is’
PS Noticed Elaine C Smith there. Surreal watching ‘Mary Doll’ singing along. Great taste though!
YakParticipantPerfection indeed. Flawless. Absolutely blown away by this woman. She is my hero.
And how lovely to see her so relaxed & obviously enjoying herself. The whole night was a dream.
First time at this auditorium & was very impressed.
Enjoyed Buick 6 (although would always miss Doug).
Loved hearing so much older stuff too.LUCINDA LOVE YOU PLEASE COME BACK SOON x
