Cool dude Elvis’ comments 8) – (right on!)

    http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/index.php/Kiss_Like_Your_Kiss

β€œThis is one of the best vocal performances of Lucinda’s recording career. I just tried to stay out of the way and add a little harmony where absolutely needed. It didn’t need a thing more. The show may make you want to bite someone on the neck but this song is going to make you wish you were loved or in love with someone enough so you could sing it to them.” β€” ElvisCostello.com/Yellow Press May, 2010.

First, I want to congratulate you for the Grammy nomination for β€œKiss Like Your Kiss.”

Somebody sent me a message about that and I said, β€œWhat nomination, I’m not even eligible.” [Laughs] So it was kind of a surprise, but I’m very pleased for Lucinda [Williams]. I think it’s one of the most beautiful songs she’s ever written and I just try to stay out of her way. They wanted us both to sing it. Truthfully, it sounds way better on her new record when she sings it alone. No, I’m not being falsely modest. It genuinely does sound better as a solo. But it’s a great song and I’m glad she got acknowledged.

Stoger, I was being a pest!! “Where are you now?” “Are you in line yet?” “Where are your seats?” “What song?” Cawane was very accommodating and patient with me, and everyone – especially the boys – submitted to several pics so that I could see what was happening. πŸ™‚

I am ashamed to say however, that for the first time ever, I fell asleep during a Lucinda show… 😳 πŸ˜‰

Love the samples! I can’t wait to hear the whole thing! The Kitchen Tapes sound pretty amazing. “Seeing Black” sounds AMAZING. That’s one I’M REALLY looking forward to.

I first heard “Seeing Black” at the Napa show last summer. I, as well as everyone else in the audience, was blown away! Everyone there gave it a standing ovation – including the hard-rocking Pretenders’ fans. What an incredibly powerful song!

And the winner also from Lost Highway.

    Ryan Bingham from Crazy Heart.

Congrats to Lu for another nomination.
    Blessed for 2012 for sure.

Ryan Bingham is having the kind of year that Taylor Swift had last year – pretty hard to beat.

I’m going out on a limb and predicting that Lu gets three nominations next year, and TWO WINS:

    1) Best Rock Song – “Seeing Black”
    2) Best Americana Album

The problem, of course, with Lu is which category does does any particular song belong in? Where would “Blessed” go? She defies categorization. And that is why we love her. πŸ˜€

TomO said “It’s not easy bringing in a new guitar player and having him need to learn almost a hundred songs -as Lu likes to be able to play anything at any time. We do have some great candidates coming in to audition this week, so we’ll find the guy.”

How many have run away in tears after they’ve seen the size of “The Book”? …which may even have spawned into two binders by now… πŸ˜€

From the fans’ perspective though, we love “The Book”, because on any given night you never know what suprise gem might be played. πŸ™‚

TomO said “Yes -that is the band for the March shows, but Val is not able to commit to the rest of the year so we will have a new guitar player in April and beyond.”

By any wild chance, would you consider Chuck Prophet? He is an incredible guitarist, AND he could also be an invigorating and inspring opening act. πŸ˜€

In the interest of full disclosure, he is my second favorite artist , and this would cut my travel expenses in half… πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€
