Not only did the hat make an appearance, but she’s playing the rose guitar!!!! I haven’t seen that in YEARS!!! Probably since a show in Greensboro, NC about 7 years ago!
vmorrisParticipantI’ve been listening to Elizabeth Cook’s new album, Exodus of Venus, and it’s quite good. Her songwriting (e.g.,”watch my hands turn to my mother’s…”) and band remain strong (despite the departure of Tim Carroll after their divorce) and her voice is pleasantly lower pitch throughout. Check it out! I’m also liking Margo Price and Brandy Clark — anyone have other summer listening suggestions, when we’re not listening to Lu, of course 🙂
vmorrisParticipantSamishSeaMike… Same thing happened to me. I took a chance by not doing the membership thing and was shut out. As we get closer to the date, I’ll see if anything reasonable pops up on StubHub. When tickets go on sale this early, sometimes people end up not being able to go and are actual decent human beings about resale prices.
vmorrisParticipantI can’t imagine Atonement with Lu and Stu only — I hope to experience it someday!
vmorrisParticipantThe turnout may have been lower than most, but those 150 in attendance were lucky to have such a private audience with Lu, depressing events notwithstanding — if anything music can help soothe. I would have loved to have been there.
vmorrisParticipantThe “music for old people” comment is definitely not true, but I must say that, given a choice, I’d opt for music by and for people who have lived some life!

I am waiting for Lu’s memoirs, notwithstanding that her entire, legendary catalog is a musical memoir unto itself!
vmorrisParticipantThat encore! So sweet and emotional…
vmorrisParticipant“seat nemesis,” indeed, stoger. That’s outrageous. As I recall, there was a similar interloper at the Ryman show (white-haired photographer dude). We could write a manifesto on concert etiquette.
vmorrisParticipantExcellent color commentary, stoger!
vmorrisParticipantWow… what an amazing evening! Thanks, stoger, for letting us live vicariously!
vmorrisParticipantEntered and fingers crossed! I’m trying to figure out how to see Two Trains separate from this and other events…

vmorrisParticipantThanks, Lafayette! We are cut from the same cloth when it comes to musical tastes, so I am looking forward to listening to Mike’s music. Also, he shared his pork chop with me at Café Lula (no, that is not a euphemism), so you KNOW he is good people! 8)
vmorrisParticipantThe show, the guests and the FF companions made for a wonderful evening at the Ryman. We were consecrated by Lu at the Mother Church. I want to point out yet another reason to love Lu: At the end of Jimi Hendrix’s Angel, Lu had tears in her eyes. She remains touched and moved by the music she plays and the lyrics that she sings, each and every time. It’s that connection that she transmits to the audience. It’s true and pure and hard to find. Thank God for Lucinda.
My personal experience of Angel last night is that it was for the mothers on Mother’s Day who are on the other side and the children on this side who miss them very much.
