I would call Red Rocks ‘Father Church’… will be there in Aug for the Lu/Isbell double bill, as well as Seattle. Maybe Bomb Factory. I’m hoping our world rights itself so we can celebrate, righteously and communally. Peace, love, and revolution… Viv

Praise the Lord! I will be at Mother Church in a full hazmat suit if requested, just to be at a Lu show with this new album!! Stay safe, everyone! xo, Viv

I listened to Lu rather obsessively starting around 2000, but it must have been the Essence tour, when Anne McCue was opening, that I first saw her live. I went to shows in Seattle, New Orleans, and Salt Lake City in quick succession on that tour and have been hooked ever since. Lu was the first artist that I traveled to see and also the first artist that I would happily see by myself. Time, space, and company were no barriers. Lu was the first (and only) artist whose lyrics made me openly weep during a show.

Also, disappointingly, Jim Lauderdale’s outfit was rather understated for him (even though according to Jason Isbell I’m not supposed to call it an outfit).

    Hey stoger,

Thanks for the diligent postings — Lu is really mixing up the setlists for these shows! Looking forward to hearing the mix for Thursday’s show in Raleigh. And I am praising the lord for the Ryman show! That was a huge and happy surprise. See you soon, Viv

Edit to above: It didn’t seem like Lu’s fans (meaning: Lu’s presale code to fans) were able to participate before the Fitzgerald’s benefit show sold out.

Lu’s code didn’t work for Fitzgerald’s and it sold out before we could locate the Pantry code. In for Friday’s Chicago benefit show, but it’s too bad it didn’t seem like Lu’s fans were able to participate before it sold out. Anyone else have luck??

Hold up, sportsfans! Lu mgmt just commented on her Facebook page that additional shows are likely, probably early in the year. Yes! Lu is the hardest working badass rocker in the free world.

I bit the bullet and bought tickets through Dwight to get better seats for Raleigh. I don’t know how the economics work, but I will be up front in my Lucinda gear so my loyalty is known 🙂 This is a fantastic line-up!

The new site looks great — the yellow and black together is striking. Thanks for the work to keep us connected!

This is fantastic! Especially for Mike! I’m out of pocket then and not able to go, unfortunately, but am already looking forward to the reports 🙂

Man, this looks like an amazing line-up in one of my favorite venues, but it’s in the middle of my son’s spring break… I only have four of his spring breaks left (at least breaks in high school when I can control what we do), so I must miss this show, but hope other FF folks make it!

Merry Christmas to the FF, for those who celebrate, and Faith and Grace to all. Lu and the boys added much meaning and light to my year and I hope to yours. It’s still hard to listen to Petty knowing that he’s gone, but Lu carries his torch in the brightest possible way. Looking forward to 2018. Peace, Viv

I would likewise “finesse” my confessions in high school! Honest enough to make I seem like I was digging deep, while hiding the actual depths of my transgressions! SamishSeaMike, After St. Ben’s, did you go to Catholic high school in Seattle? I was at Blanchet.

In the midst of all the heartbreak from Monday, I’m also thinking of Lu and hope she is holding on given how personal the loss of Petty and the Vegas circumstances are for her.  She is a sensitive soul and I’m thinking of her as well as so many others.  On these days that feel like a piling on, I’m summoning my January 21st energy from Lu’s show that day at the Fillmore in SF.  The room was full of love and purpose, while acknowledging the messy world we live in.

The loss of Petty is a hard one.  When I was in fifth grade I was placed into foster care for a period of time.  The makeshift basement room that I slept in had a small radio, and week after week during that time, I stayed up late on Sunday nights waiting to hear the #1 song on Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 Countdown, “Refugee.”  I didn’t know what a refugee was, but I knew that I was one:  “kidnapped, tied up, taken away, and held for ransom…”  I couldn’t have articulated it at the time, but that song made me realize that lyrics have meaning and that music was something like alchemy, creating… Understanding?  Strength?  A lonely community?  I never made it through hearing Petty perform that song live without crying and being healed a tiny bit.  It just hit me hard that I’ll never have that experience again.
