I agree with stoger as to the emotional impact of last night. No matter how many shows I see, I can still be reduced to emotional wreckage by those LYRICS and delivery. KBB melted our faces off, per usual. Onward to Charleston and some lowcountry eatin’. Vivian

Yes, Tom, you are correct. It’s not stoger in the picture (he was actually sitting where he could have taken the photo… just behind the upright bass to the side of the stage). Although stoger is rather ninja-like, so perhaps he was in two places at once. Ha! Vivian

A few thoughts since I’m on the FF anyway… google or ticketmaster searches should pull these up easily. These are some shows that I’ve been tinkering with:

Merle Haggard and Tift Merritt are playing at Memorial Auditorium on University of North Carolina, Chapel HIll (UNC) campus toward the end of August. Merle’s website has other tour dates through October.

Dwight Yoakam is playing with (opening for?) Eric Church and there are Sept/Oct tour dates on ticketmaster and his website.

The Americana Music Association’s Festival and Conference is in Nashville Sept. 17 – 21. www.americanamusic.org. There’s a great line-up of music.

George Straight has been touring, but I hear the tickets have been way expensive.

Monitor tour dates for Willie Nelson. I haven’t heard anything about fall dates, but am keeping my fingers crossed.

And, of course, Lucinda is a must. Her fall tour promoting the new album begins in LA in late Sept.

I would love to have several months to travel around the country and hit music venues 🙂 What a treat! Vivian

These women are bad @ss enough, we shouldn’t sanitize it. Keep the integrity of the Four Horsemen reference 🙂 I think Lucinda would want it that way, IMHO. Vivian

Yes, stoger, the set list squares with my memory. The one-two punch of Unsuffer Me and Essence was especially fantastic. So nice to meet West Words and Lafayette… the Lucinda Army has good people. Until Saxapahaw x 2! Vmo

‘Unsuffer Me’ in concert is a religious experience. That’s what I would use the asterisk for, but then I might overuse them for Lucinda’s shows.

Hey, Why the astericks beside “Unsuffer Me” and “… See You so Bad”? Is this a concert review Stoger-ism of which I am unaware? An asterisk w/o a reference is alarming to this fan. I’ll expect further explanation tomorrow 🙂 Vivian

Hi Nickle, I think the forum is a little overwhelmed by your question… such a huge question without the specific details of where you’ll be or when. When I travel I’ve found that www.pollstar.com is helpful to figure out what shows are in town on the specific dates I’ll be there. You can search by city, venue or artist. In terms of major cities generally, I am always happy with the music scene on any given night in Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Austin. In terms of the Northeast, New York City and Boston are always great, but tend to get very expensive quickly (especially if you are a family of five). And, of course, the unanimous advice from this forum would be to see Lucinda, who is touring up a storm. 🙂 Have a wonderful trip! It’s a long flight, but you will be rewarded with great music wherever you end up! VMo

‘So true, that. “I love you mama you sweet.” It seems like for every moment or emotion or celebration, there’s a Lucinda lyric that captures it. Love to yo mamas. Vmorris

Sweet. Also happy to see that KBB will be opening. Last Sept, at the Saxapahaw show, the dude from KBB who looks kinda like Jesus (bassist?) said that they were working on a new album. Anyone know when new music from them will be available?

What have I done to deserve such Lucinda bounty in the NC region?? The McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square is the deconsecrated church, as I recall. Perfect place to Get Right With God! Last time Lu played there, she said she was keeping the language clean given history of the venue 🙂 Vivian

Tom, Never apologize for being too busy! Your being busy can only accrue to the benefit of the fans 🙂 So, go forth and be stupid busy! I am amazed by Lu’s touring stamina. It can be emotionally and physically exhausting just *going* to her shows they are so intense, I can’t imagine how she performs at this high level night after night. She is so meant to spread her music and message. Take care, VMorris

Ack! I am not having any luck with the Saxapahaw, NC promo code (tried 14lucinda, lucinda14, and 25year). I’m not on facebook because my goal is to have zero internet presence and I think it’s a sinkhole for personal data, but I may have to relent if that’s the secret lair of the promo codes… Any helpers out there in the friendly fan forum? Vivian

I navigated online and now have the Sax, NC tix… The shows sold out quickly in Sept, so I’m glad I have the tix safely in my inbox now! Remember, Lu and Tom, GET THE BBQ SANDWICH (off the regular menu) FROM THE GENERAL STORE. Only in the South will you find the best bbq sandwich, period, at a gas station. You can gas up the tour bus at the same time! VMo

Vivian p.s. I have two relatively good seats up for grabs to the Charleston, SC show on 6/4 (8th row, I think, cuz row H). They are extra seats that I got through a charity auction, so I would ask that the taker of the tickets make a donation to a Lu charity equal to the face value (Amnesty International? American Music Association?). I will meet you at the venue and you’ll have the pleasure of going into the venue with me and stoger because I don’t want the tix resold for profit — this is a fan-only offer. Contact me offline if interested. I reserve the right to withdraw this offer if the takers don’t seem on the up-and-up, but if stoger vouches for you, that’s good enough for me.

The fan club presale code for HOB on 5/20 is “25year” (note: ‘year’ is singular). Only GA is available via presale; reserved seating will be available only at the public sale on Friday, not before.
