Speaking of testifying, Unsuffer Me and Essence, back-to-back, would be oh-so-appreciated for tonight’s New Haven show!
Can anyone confirm if BOTH of the Chicago shows are already sold out?? Seats don’t appear to be available online (it says One Sale, but no seats show on the map as available). I have a panic email and call into the Chicago Winery, but am also turning to the Lucinda support community that is the FF. ❓ Viv

I was about to hit the road and saw that it was a 7pm start, with Lu likely taking the stage at 8 or thereabouts, and I didn’t think I could make it before 9pm. Not my best day. Also, I was having dinner with Sven and I couldn’t bail (even though of all people, he would likely understand). I will shake this disappointment off, and focus on Friday and Saturday, although I won’t be able to enjoy the shows with you, my friend! Maybe consider New Haven and Katonah?? Viv
I almost threw up when I realized I was a mere 58 miles away from this show and did not know it — how that happened, I will never know, but let’s just say that my U.S. geography isn’t that great. Maybe instead of “Six Blocks Away” I’ll pen a tune called “58 Miles Away” and it will be about loss, longing, regret and rock and roll deprivation. But at least I have stoger’s reporting! I’ll compensate on Saturday and make the trek to NY from my short stay in VT. I’m going to go weep now. VMo

I would love to know Lu’s reaction to the party foul moment of the Big Head Todd fan’s comment about the Tom Petty song. 😯

In addition to Met an Old Friend, track #4’s “My Love, My Love” sung by Julia Holter is haunting. Great album. Lu picks the good ones to be a part of. 🙂

I have no setlist to offer because I took a more zen, or holistic approach to the evening and didn’t keep track. One highlight for me and my friend was BUTTERCUP! We all know that guy, and have dated that guy… Also, I loved hearing Are You Alright. It left me in tears for many reasons — once again, Lucinda mines the universal in her so very personal lyrics. The last time I heard it live was also in Greensboro and Lu introduced it by saying that a veteran had requested it because he takes a boom box to the grave of a buddy who died in combat, and he plays the song to him. Many different ways into that song. My friend was moved to tears last night by KBB’s Goodbye West Virginia, a tribute to Kenneth’s grandmother, that reminded my friend of the passing of her own mother. Those moments are what music, especially live music, and especially Lu and KBB, do for us and keep us coming back to worship, pay homage, rock out, escape, cry, experience catharsis and the entire panoply of our lives. Many people in the crowd were yelling “Thank You!” and I hope the message was received on stage! Still riding the experience, Viv (p.s. I understand that KBB’s new album is mixed and may be released in the next few months! Breakdown will be played loud and often in my car.)
Lefty, Thanks for posting this review from “Nooga” (this may be my next pet’s name). This review is spot on. I love the whole thing: “mind-numbingly good”, “aggressively sexual”, “goofy” smiles among strangers in the “afterglow”. So true. Viv
