I shall rally to ride the rail.vmorrisParticipantNever mind… The Jefferson Theatre is also GA. Don’t know if I can do GA two nights in a row, plus driving. Sigh.
vmorrisParticipantThat is a righteous lineup. I want Jade Bird to do Joy. Brandy would kill Greenvile. The live stream is at 11pm my time, but I may need to stay up for it live.
vmorrisParticipantThe venue for this show is GA on the floor, with seating up above that I presume are reserved, like HOB. I missed the presales that were earlier in the week, so will see what comes up for public sale today. This bag of bones has a hard time nowadays with all the standing and waiting necessary to ride the rail for GA.
vmorrisParticipantStoger, Taking a train from Memphis to the Crescent City sounds like the beginning of a Lucinda song 🙂
vmorrisParticipantStoger, I have risen!
vmorrisParticipantTony, Excellent news about True Detective! They need to incorporate Lake Charles into the show’s soundtrack 🙂
vmorrisParticipantGreat set list, as always! I bet her birthday show tonight will be a barn burner! I will raise a glass to her from NC. Also, apropos of nothing, I’m working my way through the series True Detective, and one of the episodes had Are You Alright… I love hearing Lu out in the wild 🙂
vmorrisParticipantYes! Happy Birthday to our lovely Lu! Although, as with each year, she gives us the best gift all year long. She embodies the spirit of rock and roll, and always “shows us how to live.” We are blessed, yeah, we are blessed. As she rolls into the next decade, we await her continuing gifts. Much love to Lu! XO, Viv
vmorrisParticipantStoger, Thanks for letting us live vicariously!
vmorrisParticipantThat’s a solid set list. Very nice. I remember at Red Rocks that there was a moment midset that Lu appeared ready to leave the stage before she resumed. Maybe prompter issues. My son has now been delivered to college in CA, and, needless to say, the song Are You Alright is hitting harder now in the midst of my grief. I hope Lu stays with Isbell for the Seattle show on March 2.
vmorrisParticipantNow that I’m back home and in a bit more of a reflective mood (as opposed to a post-concert high – only figuratively tho), I don’t want to overlook the magnitude of what Lu has been through and how brave she is. Her newfound physical changes are noticeable to those of us who know her well, and we all grasp how hard she is working to recover. Many people would retreat in the face of limitations, but she is out there in front of thousands, getting it done and adjusting. She’s not standing up behind an electric guitar at the moment, but she is standing up. She has my respect, anew. Think of the challenges the road must pose at this point — those tour bus steps are hard to negotiate in the best of times. And we should also acknowledge the crew, band, etc. who have all rallied around her and helped lift her up and make it all happen. Like the girl selling roses from Blessed, Lu is showing us how to live.
vmorrisParticipantThank you, Stoger! That is an awesome comeback set list! Lu teaches us all how to live. I will send the love her way at RR – we will have ourselves a time. Jason and Amanda are good people. Peace, love, and revolution.. xo, Viv
vmorrisParticipantSo, this is a belated reply to Stoger’s post of the Ponte Vedre, FL setlist from Jan. 26th. That is a hell of a setlist. Possibly my idea of an IDEAL setlist. I saw Lu with Stoger the night prior in Charlotte, NC, for the last of the Car Wheels shows. That was my final show before the pandemic hit, I believe. I am kicking myself that I couldn’t make the Ponte Vedre show. I’ve been stalking the Ryman website waiting for a posting of Lucinda for Nov. 14th (we will need that communion after the election, one way or another). Tomorrow is the 40th anniversary of Back in Black. I’ve been watching live AC/DC on YouTube all night. What I would give to be riding the rail at an actual show. I’m in a musical melancholy mood. Bourbon helps. Be well, all.
