Thanks much for posting the setlist…they’ve certainly been something so far. Next weekend is going to be sweet.
visionsParticipantLu must be pretty damn comfortable with the new band to be switching up the setlists like this on Day 2…awesome start of the tour
visionsParticipantQuasi review, along with some very, very dark pics:

visionsParticipantThanks for the report and the setlist (heck of a nice one). When I heard about Doug I was a bit down, but sure looks like it might have led to a nice little revamp of the band’s approach.
Looking forward to that Keswick-Wellmont double shot in two weeks.
visionsParticipantDylan- Positively Fourth Street, Ballad of a Thin Man, Someday Baby
Floyd- Comfortably Numb (or Mihalis (sp?) from Gilmour’s first solo album)
Muddy- Baby Please Don’t Go
Reed- Sweet Jane
Who-Sparks, Love Reign O’er Me, I Can See For Miles
Clash- London Calling, Clampdown
visionsParticipantlooks like they may have released a few seats for the Keswick…was planning to just go to Montclair, but I just now turned up a third row center single on TM which I couldn’t possibly release.
visionsParticipantGiven the choice, I’d rather just have Lu play a bit longer, especially in a curfewed venue. But if we have to have an opener, Kasey Chambers did a nice job opening for Lu a number of years back.
visionsParticipantEvery show I caught since August had plenty of empty seats. I caught Neil in Madison Square Garden a couple weeks back, the entire 400 section was empty and there were plenty of other empty seats. You could snag pit tix (the first 20 rows on the floor) from the so called “brokers” for less than face preshow. John Hiatt in New Brunswick—a fabulous show by the way–about half full. Aimee Mann in Englewood, maybe 3/4 full on the floor and essentially empty upstairs. Though I ended up not going to the Who, I checked TM several times and there were plenty of good seats.
I think this has much more to do with the general economy and very little to do with setlists, opening bands, or the like.
visionsParticipantThanks, I’m in for Montclair, have heard good things about the Wellmont.

Her dress don’t hide her age
Not like mama said it would
And her smile fades away
Just like daddy said it couldNo, things don’t come so easy
Not when you turn twenty five
And to blow out the candles
Takes a pill of concentrationI can’t look inside her eyes
I can’t kiss her perfect lips
I can’t whisper in her ears
And take her far away from thisPyramid of tears
Pyramid of tears
Pyramid of tears, I see you cryI can’t hold her tight enough
Not to steal away the pain
I can’t look into her eyes
And tell her everything’s okayNo, she’s not tired, she’s just older
And she’s lost the will to fly
I can’t whisper in her ears
And tell her everything’s alrightPyramid of tears

Pyramid of tears, I see you cryvisionsParticipantI always find Lucinda’s sound system to be top notch, certainly among the best I’ve heard (I’d put the Cowboy Junkies rig up there as well). Of course, I like loud music, but in the right room Lu always sounds clean. I dragged my wife to one of her shows a couple years back, 4th or 5th row…she is not a loud music fan, and I think she only resorted to her earplugs for one or two songs.
visionsParticipantI haven’t heard the ’06 Balt show, but there are several that push the three hour mark…the middle show of the Fillmore ’03 stand, the September 2005 Dallas show, and the Essence live set from Irving Plaza in 2007 all are longer than 2:40. There are probably quite a few others.
visionsParticipantInspired song choice, Lu does great Dylan covers (her early 90’s versions of Positively Fourth Street are also awesome…this from someone with a thinly veiled Dylan reference username.
visionsParticipantHey Inside Job, thanks for adding in some of the earlier dates for 2007…hopefully that slow boat with the back half of the year setlists arrives sometime!
visionsParticipantDylan is apparently heading up a project on setting some of Hank Williams’ last lyrics to music. Lu is one of the musicians working with Bob (there are a bunch of others involved as well). Wouldn’t be impossible to end up with Bob doing the Jailhouse duet (and it would be perfect for him).
