    Sounds great.

Will there be high res downloads as well ?

I bought the download today, but as I really REALLY do love Lu and her Music…this record in particular…I am so sorry to say that I’m much disappointed.
Not by the music, of course, but by the quality of the sound.

Why on earth did you compress the life out of it ? It’s screaming LOUD, but deader than a mummy. I’m sure it sounds great when listening on cheap earbuds, but not if you prefer good loudspeakers.
It has a dynamic range (DR) value of 9, which is pretty bad. By comparison the 1998 Koch reissue has a DR value of 13 ! (Actually as high as DR 14 if you calculate the 12 official tracks to make it fully comparable to the 12 tracks of disc 1 of the anniversary edition.)
I’ll stick with my Koch reissue. Hell, I’d rather play my old cassette that I bought way back in 1988 !

Is the same shitty master used for the 180g vinyl edition ? Or was a seperate master made for it give a more analog sounding quality ?

I’m really sorry for writing such a negative comment on this much anticipated reissue, but the truth is we…fans and customers…deserve better. And most of all the music deserves to be treated better.

Hi Tom, can you say what format the download is please from Pledgemusic ? So many sites just do MP3, but I’m an Audiophile nerd: I want the vinyl, but if I only get a lossy download, then I’d have to plump for CD instead. Can I suggest/plead that there are other download options, like Flac lossless and/or the Holy Grail… 24bit or higher ?

    Thanks,
    Joe, Dublin.

I second that, flac in 16-44.1 is what I expect, highres in 24-96 would be great !

We are hustling like crazy to make a 11/12 or 11/19 release date -the regular version, which was remastered last Sat night, will include a bonus live show from May of 89. The deluxe version will include a special package and third disc, which should include the 86 CBS demos -we just have to figure out all the credits, like who is actually playing on them etc.

Hi, any news about the reisseue ?
Still on scedule for the release date ?

I’m very much looking foreward to it.

I’m a huge fan of Lu, but I have to agree with the writer of the blog. Her songs beggs for some dynamics to work their best in a live setting, but the trio ended up beeing mostly right in between everything, neither acoustic & imtimate, nor loud & rocking. When they took it down and low, I wished the the guy on bass would play his big upright acoustic bass, setting a slower pace and more low key setting for Lu and Doug. When Lu played the electric guitar and they rocked on for a couple of song to loosen up the crowd, I could not help missing a drummer to provide the driving force behind the others.

Instead of a trio trying to sound like a full band I actually would prefer only the duo playing Lu’s wonderful songs really intimate and low key.

    Just my honest thoughts….

I just had a wet dream that Lu’s old recordings were given the whole makeover by Analogue Productions. Those guys sure know what they are doing. Check out what they did to Elvis and Miles. They never sounded better than on the AP vinyl and SACD’s!

Got tickets for Lu’s show in Oslo, May 18, the day after our National Day.
Gonna be great, I’m sure !

Well, it can’t be a lot of risk considering there are no physicsl production or distribution involved. I do know there’s some work needed to prepare the conversion into a flac format etc. and probably some legal issues when getting involved with new web based distributionpartners, bit I cannot see a big financial risk.

I really think the interrest is there, but people are getting getting tired of not being able to find the highres quality. If it’s not there people will stop looking for it, and highres as a niche and possibility to charge some extra bucks will vanish almost before it started. If people care enough about sound quality to still by vinyl I think there will be people intersted in high quality digital files as well.

Right now I’m listening to a vinyl rip of World Without Tears in 24/96 resolution in flac format. It’s an amateur rip made on rather modest equipment, but I still prefer the sound of it before the CD I bought back in 2003. Better still would be if I could by high res the propper way.

Ofcourse there are not a lot of dedicated distributers, but I think HD-tracks are really getting up a momentum these days. Linn in Scottland is also getting a bigger and bigger customer base.

Guess I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Looking foreward to the reissue even if I’ll have to settle with the outdated CD-format.

I do understand a lot of people are eager for vinyl releases, but I’m grown up in the age of digitalis. A high resolution digital release for downloading would be great. Flac format in 24-96 resolution?

I’m really looking foreward to this reissue !

    Thanx Lefty & thoran,

Does anyone care to elaborate on the differences ? Why do you lean toward the left coast performances, Lefty ? What about the artwork/pakcaging ? I love when one has put real effort into it.

I’d really like to hear these performances. Both sets would be a bit over the top though, – so wich one to by ? NY or LA, anyone ?
