Both Lu and Doug came off after this one and felt it was a really good night -I heard Doug mention that he thought this was the best version of Essence (and some others) so far. You can’t slip anything by that Stoger. I Asked For Water And He Gave Me Gasoline was the other option to Come To Me Baby so yes it almost happened.

Great night. Really great crowd. Could’ve done more nights as they told us at the venue that this show sold out in minutes. I’m sure we’ll be back there at some point.
Originally Lily Mae was going to sit in on Envy and Make The World Go Away but Lu loved it so just kept telling her stay up there after every song-and ended up playing on 5 songs. Lu also added another new guitar to her repertoire -a blonde hollowbody ’76 Telecaster Thinline. She’s been really wanting a certain guitar sound on some of the rockier songs and the other new one -the birthday guitar, is great on certain things like delta blues but not quite what she wanted on the other songs. I think we may have it solved now.

Not sure but it was originally called Drivin’ Down A Dead End Street until she realized that Bob Dylan had a song with a similar title.

Nick -Welcome to the forum -great bunch of people in here. I’m Lu’s mgr. To answer your question Lu hasn’t done a biography yet but it is being discussed. It’s funny that you ask about a place to go to read old articles because 2 days ago I discovered this amazing site called Rock’s Backpages- www.rocksbackpages.com
It has the most amazing collection of music writing i’ve ever seen. You can search on individual artists and it will bring up a ton of articles going way back. It’s a really great site and might be exactly what your looking for. If you’re looking for pur biographical info I would suggest Lu’s Wikipedia page. Last time I was there it was all pretty accurate. There is also some similar bio info at allmusic.com.

Yes -the purse was returned to the Blackheart yesterday morning -in a way that we know it was probably what (who) we suspected- or at the very least someone who could’ve only known certain info that was put on FB. The jacket is still missing and the only thing taken from the purse was the cash. Damn -if I’d only written down those serial numbers.
Thanks to all of you who did all the digging and searching. It all helped and is very appreciated.

Yes -there will be a lot of announcements coming soon. We will be in Europe for at least 6 weeks. We will be pretty much everywhere. I will start a separate thread to answer specific questions until everything is announced.

Tony is correct –Lu’s was a little more sparkly. Sparkly in the way that naugahyde is sparkly -with silver flecks. Or the way that the paint was for model cars back when I was a kid -the red used to be called Candy Apple Red.

That is very close color wise -but I don’t recall seeing the pink lips so I don’t think it’s the exact purse.

It is a very distinct purse -I would describe it as “blue sparkle”. I believe she said it was a Betsy Johnson.

Some quick info on the openers:
Gold Star – Marlon is someone Lu and I have been following and have become great friends with. We have seen Sister Ruby several times and Gold Star is his new stripped down thing -we are excited that he is opening at the B-Up ans someone you will see more of in the future. Both Lu and I really love his songs.

Kenneth Brian Band -Actually this will not be the whole band -it will mostly be the Kenneth and rhythm guitar player Travis who has played with Rosie Flores. We saw these guys in LA a couple of months ago and were blown away -really really great songs and great guitar playing. They are one of two new artists to sign on with Hello Cleveland Mgmt (several here will be familiar with the other one but more on that later) I think the Lu crowd will really take to Kenneth.

Stogie– I will see what’s going on with your access and get it fixed. Always email me when something like this happens. That goes for anyone else who may be having issues.
