I can answer the question about the Janis shirt with a little backstory. When the photo of Lu wearing the Janis shirt appeared in magazines, the Janis photo was photoshopped out. No one could verify that it was an “authorized official” Janis shirt and as we are in the days when you can sued for looking at someone wrong and the label felt strongly that it needed to be removed. when it came time to design the live cd, and I had the original shot with Janis on the shirt, I decided to be brave/stupid and threw caution to the wind -well I also had five minutes to get them done, so Janis stayed. So anyway I don’t think she will be wearing the shirt tonight. Should be a great show -Lucinda has been given the honor of closing the show.
It’s been great watching her work on the songs she’s going to do. She’s going to be teriffic.

Sorry to hear that you were slightly disappointed with the setlist- it was very close to being a bit more different. Lu was very close to doing two different acoustic songs to start with. She was working on them that afternoon on the bus and they almost made the setlist, but at the last minute she wasn’t sure they were ready yet. I Am So Happy I Found You was a last minute pre-encore backstage decision by Lu to skip it. She thought the crowd might be a little too revved up for it. You will see it again. It seems that a little buzz has started about that song-I got an email from a friend of Lu’s that it is the #10 blog post on Expecting Rain.com which is a site that collects and ranks blogs that are all things Bob Dylan-it also has some reportedly good video footage of the song from Minneapolis.
Anyway, I think you will see the setlists on this leg continue to revolve and evolve. We had a band dinner last night to discuss that very topic-especially the early songs, which Lu is in the process of picking. The band can’t really work up those until Lu decides which ones to do because her voice has changed a lot from 30 years ago so she has to sit down and figure out new keys for every song. I’m really looking forward to the NY shows because I think there will be more songs from every record and some surprises-maybe even a couple things that weren’t on albums. In any event she’s really loving doing these shows and that’s always a good thing. Also have to mention how great Lu and the band thought the Bloomington crowd was. One of the best all year- she had a ball–in fact the whole Nothing In Ramblin’ blues jam was completely spontaneous. The band did not know they each going to get a solo right up until Lu called for it-every great once in awhile she will do that when she’s really having fun. It was a really good night. Indiana is 2 for 2 this year.

It’s spelled a little unusual but she definitely has a middle name.

I’m not so sure about that –when I was asking her about the video last night, I mentioned the lizard and she said “that’s not a lizard that’s an iguana, that was my idea, isn’t that cool?” (I actually had it wrong when I said gila monster earlier)
Anyway I think the fact that she has never made an official video is pretty interesting and kind of amazing– you would be hard pressed to find another artist of her stature that has never made one. The reasons are numerous, but it didn’t help that she only put out 2 small label records between 1980 and 1997 which covered most of MTV’s heyday. After 1999 or so MTV began devoting much less time to videos and their playlists tightened up to mostly Top 40 or major acts who would make $500k-1 million dollar videos. She also had her own issues with making a video and when she got somewhat beyond that she had a very ill fated meeting with a then big name movie director. Now it makes for a good story –the short version is that the video was to be for one of the songs on Car Wheels so she flew to NY with her then bass playing boyfriend for the meeting with the director. The meeting started off badly when the director, who was not a good match, began drinking heavily and pitching some embarrassingly bad ideas. The meeting ended with the director getting trashed and making some very inappropriate advances to Lucinda when the boyfriend went to the men’s room.
    Pretty classic story.
That experience didn’t help any with he hesitancies she had to making a video so it just never happened. It has been talked about with the last two records but LH didn’t really feel there was a reason to make one that will justify the costs.
I think she will probably do something around the next record – it has been talked about from time to time, and she wants to do something really creative, so it may finally happen.

    Now there’s some objectivity. 😆

TIm C–Thanks for your concern-but everything is fine. In fact there will be some news coming soon that I think will speak to just how fine everything is. The pictures on the home page were taken over a year ago, and were at the very end of a long photo shoot for Little Honey. But other than maybe being a little tired and hungry, she was fine that day also.

Interesting comment Tim. But obviously your and certain other people’s definition of objectivity differs greatly from mine.

    From a dictionary:
    –adjective
not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion.

Based on the true definition I would definitely agree with you.

Actually none. Or one if you count the PK video -in some ways you could say it it is official but it was done before MTV etc. really took hold so nothing was ever done with it. I have no idea how the blog even got ahold of it. I had never seen it before.
Lucinda told me that the gila monster was her idea. 💡 😀

Pollstar is wrong -the shows in Toronto will be exactly as I have them at the beginning of this thread. Sorry for the confusion.

Below is the track listing for the potential 2nd disc of LW reissue. Also, I have just been listening to the nearly final clean up of LW from the original master tapes (which the Koch reissue didn’t use because they were missing at that time) and it is sounding beautiful. Mr. Liljestrand has done his usual stellar job. It will all be mastered by the Grammy winning Gavin Lurssen who did such a fantastic job on West and Little Honey.

To Answer TT and WO’B’s questions–
TT–I don’t know the answer to your question but will discuss it with Mr.Liljestrand.

WO’B–Yes the plan is to release it worldwide and hopefully simultaneously -but the international part is a separate deal so it may delay the intl release by a couple of weeks — am going to do everything i can to prevent that.
