Most of these are actually Lucinda songs-i’ll go thru them:
1) The song is called Venetian Blinds and is an early Lu song
2) I Bet It’d Be Good–early Lu song
3) That’s What I’m Living For – I don’t think this is a Lu song but can’t remember–it’s come up before
4) Hard Times–early Lu song
5) All I Want -early Lu song
6) yes this is the Patsy song
6a) An early Lu song called Jazz Side Of Life that she recently updated the lyrics to -it was given serious consideration for the new record but was not recorded -actually Lu brought this topic up a couple of nights ago—questioning whether we should have tried to record it for this record. It’s a great song and I would guess it will show up on the next one.
7) Abandoned -on the RT album
8) Makin’ Believe– not a Lu song -may be the one you found but I think it’s a different song than that
9) This is actually called Goin’ Back Home–not a Lu song but was one of the bonus tracks on the 2nd version of the RT recordTOverbyParticipantFinal tracks have not quite been decided -close but not quite. There will probably 12 or 13 tracks total.
Travesty will not be on this record -she wrote the words very late in the recording and didn’t have it quite worked out so it was not recorded. Companion also has not been recorded yet-we are still figuring out how to do it but it most likely will be a digital only track.TOverbyParticipantIt is Blessed–rhymes with West. If you read down the comment on the FB fan page she responds to another question about this and quotes a couple of lines from the lyrics.
TOverbyParticipantWell Lucinda officially let the cat out of the bag a few minutes ago on Facebook -the title of the new record will be called Blessed–which is one of the new songs. Still figuring out the release date.
TOverbyParticipantI know a couple of you have been asking whether the RT album is still coming in August and unfortunately the answer is no it will not be coming in August. It may still come out this year but the relatively fast completion of the new record has caused me to put the RT on hold until the new record is officially scheduled for release.
TOverbyParticipantThe interview was done yesterday afternoon for the print version of the Seattle Weekly in advance of the show Lucinda is doing up there. It was interesting to see how quickly a mention of the interview was put up by the writer, given that she had just done it a couple hours earlier, but it sounds like she enjoyed it as much as Lucinda did. I’m not sure exactly when it will run, but an educated guess would be next week’s issue.
TOverbyParticipantStoger -Maybe you did try a little early before they made all of the adjustments. You might wan to try it again. Here is the email I got moments ago from Lucinda’s booking agent, L is the promoter of the Ventura Theatre:
Tom.
From the venue itself.

TOverbyParticipantThis show WILL now be happening and the info that I have now is that the ticket fees will be reduced, my understanding is that they will now be $7.55 on the $39.50 tickets and $9.75 on the $54.50 tickets -also there will now be a will call option free of charge.
TOverbyParticipantIt looks like this show may indeed be saved. It’s happening as I type -but it looks positive. More details coming soon.
TOverbyParticipant“How It Feels” is an attempted songwriting collaboration with Jim Lauderdale that was never recorded by either of them (or anybody else) and is just one of those songs that was never quite born. The lyrics for it were in the aforementioned folder with all of the other recently discovered songs. “Don’t Kid Yourself” is a Lucinda song that appears to be from 1984. No immediate plans to release any of this -in fact, technically. as of right now most of these songs exist on paper only. The cassettes that these songs exist on have to be found, although if I recall correctly there is a plastic tub of cassettes in the storage space where keep all of the road gear, and I would guess that those cassettes will contain many of the songs being discussed and more. I’m adding that to my to-do list.
TOverbyParticipantI asked Lucinda last night about “That’s How I Got To Memphis” and Duckin’ & Divin’. THIGTM is indeed a Tom T Hall song, and D & D is actually called Duckin’ & Dodgin’ and is from an old LP she had called Louisiana Penitentiary Songs. I think there is something else from that record that she has done also, because I recall her brining it up before. She says she still has it but we haven’t unboxed all of her LP’s yet.
Full Moon and Ramon are songs that goes back to her days in Houston and the Anderson Fair scene, which is where the connection to Nancy Griffith and Lyle Lovett among others, comes from. There was a documentary made about Anderson Fair a couple years ago, as of now it’s not available for purchase but a trailer can be seen here: http://www.andersonfairthemovie.com/trailer.html
Lucinda not only participated in the doc but the creators of the movie came up with what is probably the oldest footage of Lucinda performing -I think she said it was around 1976. She is performing on a local Houston public TV show (in black and white) and if I recall she is doing Ramon-there is only a few seconds of it but it is quite…well, no other word for it, precious.
I believe we have now acquired the entire piece of footage which I have not yet seen, but at some point we’ll find a place for it.TOverbyParticipantI would say there is about a 99% chance that this show will not happen-it was my choice to instruct Lucinda’s booking agent to cancel this show. Let’s just say that the powers that be in this case are 1) A very gigantic arrogant organization 2) not known for flexibility -at least until a week before the show, when they cut prices/fees and punish everyone who bought early, and 3) completely apathetic to whether this show happens or not because in their world this is a tiny tiny show and not even a blip on their radar.
I should have official confirmation tomorrow.Let me also add that there is no reason for you to feel guilty at all. I very much appreciate that you brought this to my attention -especially as quickly as you did. I can’t divulge any details yet but I can say that this was a particularly disgusting example of the arrogance that has been happening in the live music industry for years-an arrogance that obviously continues even though we are in the midst of a live music industry that is in free fall market correction. It just has to stop. Hopefully some little small step to change will come from this.
TOverbyParticipantNo plans to release it -that is the entire song -if you can even call it that. I can say that was a very memorable afternoon, as Lucinda did that little ditty with a rather unexpected zeal. When she shouted shouted out the second “sons a bitches!!”, which was completely improvised on her part, she had everybody in the studio in tears with laughter. It was a proud moment. A little later the guy who does the voice of granny, who happened to live in LA, came by the studio and he and Lu started going back an forth, him as granny and Lu as granny’s sister–an of course Lu then started lobbying the Squidbillies people to let her do that character in future shows, they loved the idea, but as of now I think she’s stuck with this singin’ thing.
TOverbyParticipantChet is indeed a member of and playing with the Eels on the current tour.
