TOverbyParticipant
And I forgot to mention that yes we will definitely be doing vinyl.
TOverbyParticipantRight now it is looking like the release date is going to be 1/11/11, as we are still doing some fine tuning and at this point to try and make Nov. would be rushing it, and we’re feeling really good about the record so we want to get it right. More news coming soon.
TOverbyParticipantI don’t have a run date yet. Will post it here when i do.
TOverbyParticipantYes –I can confirm that Lucinda will be at the AMA award show. As mentioned above she will be inducting Luke Lewis as he get honored with the AMA Lifetime Achievement award. She will also be doing a song with the house band during the ceremony. Ironically the house band includes Don Was on bass and Greg Leisz on guitar, both of course were very involved with Lu’s new record. The bandleader is the great Buddy Miller, a longtime friend of Lu’s. Should be a great show.
TOverbyParticipantGood eye LWJ. The reason for this was that Val had to initially learn 40 songs in addition to the new ones-and then learned a few more to accommodate some of the requests while we were out. Lucinda picked the songs and and Car Wheels just didn’t make the cut, basically because there so many other songs already picked from that album. Oddly enough it was only requested on one or two nights, and she almost did acoustically but ended up doing Side Of The Road instead. As a sidebar it was interesting to see what was requested and what wasn’t.
TOverbyParticipantYes Lu will be presenting a lifetime achievement or something like that to Luke Lewis who is the president of Lost Highway/Universal Nashville records. Out of all the artists he could’ve asked, Lucinda was his first choice and she is very honored to be able to do it. She will also be doing a song during the ceremony on Thurs (which just has to fall on the night of Vikings/Saints game). On Fri night Lu will be doing something-it will probably be a live interview with Bob Harris from the BBC with attendees able to ask questions also. Lucinda will probably do acoustic versions of a couple new songs also. This isn’t quite finalized and it could change, but more than likely this is what she will be doing.
TOverbyParticipantNo date has been set yet -we are shooting for late Oct or early Nov. but some things (artwork) have to get done in a hurry for that to happen.
TOverbyParticipantSorry -can’t publish the lyrics yet. I am a little concerned about that torrent link however.
TOverbyParticipantTonyg- –Yes will try and get in here tomorrow to give a report–it was a very fun night,
TOverbyParticipantNo don’t remove anything –Jimmy is a sweetheart and completely meant well – I’m sure it just got jumbled in the telling of the story. He truly loves Lu, in fact he invited her to come and sing Galveston with him on the Letterman show but unfortunately the schedules didn’t work. It was the other unnamed person that made the night a bit memorable, but it wasn’t that big of a deal -I was just reminded of it from Jimmy’s story.
August 10, 2010 at 12:03 am in reply to: Question about Lucinda Williams limited live show CDs #44012TOverbyParticipantAll of the shows in each city were taped -each were 5 camera shoots. In addition we shot backstage, rehearsals etc. I am told that there is over 100 hours of footage. There are no immediate plans to do a dvd although we have had discussions here and there with different parties. I am hopeful that someday soon they will be able to be released in some form- either as individual nights or as a documentary.
TOverbyParticipantIt was a birthday party for Jimmy and I was with Lu that night — she definitely wasn’t at the piano because she doesn’t know to play the piano. Jimmy was at the piano and if i recall correctly Lu did borrow a guitar from someone an played one of her sings but I don’t recall which one. The night was really memorable for the fact that there was a very has-been one hit wonder pop singer there who was being very, shall we say, catty towards Lucinda and she was getting close to having none of that but luckily we left before it became an international incident.
TOverbyParticipantThe only editing that was done was done to make the show fit on the 78 minute cd capacity. Because Lucinda would give the background of most of the songs before playing them couple of the shows went over the 78 minute length. In those cases only the minimal was taken out -just enough to get under the 78 minutes-and a lot of times it was just dead time that was taken out -like if Lucinda went back and talked to Butch about something etc. No music was taken out and very very little banter was removed either. We wanted them to be the exact version of that show.
Also I have had no complaints about the cds not playing regular cd players -when I ordered them I was told that they were the highest quality blank cds available at that time. In fact I still have some of the excess blanks and still use them to make copies of things for the band etc. No one has ever had any issue with them playing or not playing.
TOverbyParticipantBob–Have you called TM –I believe they are supposed to honor the reduction. Let me know if that is not the case.
TOverbyParticipantThe late Vic Chestnutt also has a track called Lucinda Williams on his West Of Rome album, which was produced by Michael Stipe.
