I know nothing about any $250 minimum-and still don’t -I had many friends and family attend the shows and not one mentioned a word to me of it happening to them or anyone around them. I stood at the back bar for all 3 shows and saw no evidence of that going on. I recall one night -the 2nd I believe, a group of 4 sitting at the table and they were only drinking and no one was pushing them to drink more etc.
Maybe it is something they do for the first row tables but I am not aware of it and I got exactly zero complaints about that -or for that matter anything. I have known the owner for years, as it turns out he is also from Austin Mn, -and he has built this club from the early days when it was a tiny jazz club in Bandana Square in St. Paul to what it is now. And he has largely built it on extreme hospitality to both his customers and and the artists. I am thrilled that after narrowly surviving on several occasions he has been able to diversify his bookings and make a real go at it. As the live music industry is continually evolving, for artists like Lucinda I believe these small intimate clubs will be a key component to the long term future on the live side. In other words we will need them.TOverbyParticipantIt continues to amaze me how little fact checking and/or actual listening actually happens -regardless of a complimentary review the album does not open with Convince Me and never has. Just for the record -no pun intended.
TOverbyParticipantNo -it’s not – presale just went on sale yesterday–here is the link-and the presale password is KEYS:

Also she really wanted to do Knowing but as I mentioned in the other thread, in addition to the lyrics, the book pages contain all of the guitar keys etc. and because she has never played on it live the guitar key was not on the page. And because it hadn’t ever been played that much no one could remember the key. They actually ran upstairs to find me to see if I knew the key, but no such luck. That’s the story behind that -but that was also why she played Kiss Like Your Kiss which was pretty majestic last night so it all worked out.
TOverbyParticipantI have not been in this venue yet but I am told it is one of the best sounding rooms in NYC. It is used to be the famous Ritz, and has been completely refurbished with a new sound system. A good friend of mine in the business who lives in NY and goes to many shows said that we will love it.
There is no opening act because of the window of time we have to play and I didn’t want to have to squeeze Lucinda’s set time down too tight so it will A Night With Lucinda show.TOverbyParticipantWell you’re right -that is rock critic speak for over analyzation. It’s a true story put beautifully in a song. Trying to put this the right way without sounding… well I don’t know what the word is -but I was there and i got the email from a friend at Lost Highway and delivered the news to her -much more could be said but 15 months later the way she pulled the details so accurately from what happened blows me away to this day. This was the first song that she wrote/ brought to me when the Kitchen Tapes started happening. Just incredible perception and masterful writing-all biases aside. It blew my mind the details she chose from that night.
And being there that night I have to say that mist is the perfect choice-but I undestand why the more literal might appeal. But it was in the mist, she chooses those words very carefully.TOverbyParticipantThe lyric that he wonders about is mist.
TOverbyParticipantI will try to get something up soon if I can. Gotta do tonight’s setlist first.
TOverbyParticipantMike–Just curious –how much was the mailing fee?
TOverbyParticipantThe HOB in New Orleans went with the presale without giving us the password which I now have.
It is KEYS.TOverbyParticipantOk –I guess i’m a little bit late here but I would like to officially introduce Blake Mills as Lucinda’s new guitar player. We are very very excited to have Blake as the newest member of the Lucinda band. I really don’t want to put any undo pressure or create any hyped up expectations on him but let’s just say that during the auditions he came in and absolutely killed it– with Lu killing it is a different thing –he brought his own thing to the songs and he played WITH the band like he’d be there for years instead of just coming and playing parts. That is exacty what we were looking for. Lu, Butch & David are all very excited to have him join the band—as am I of course.
Please welcome him to the family -judging from the rehearsals/auditions he is gonna bring some great stuff to the band. I know you are all going to love him like we already do.
Welcome aboard friend-you are going to have a blast.
We can’t wait for you to get out with us. It’s gonna be great.
Cheers,
TomTOverbyParticipantYes -we got in last night–just barely but that’s another story that didn’t have anything to do with the weather–and the show is not cancelled.
TOverbyParticipantNo-this is a regular Stubbs outdoor show – sorry for the misinformation.
TOverbyParticipantNo unfortunately we have moved to a different bus company so English will not be with us on this run.
Yes – we will definitely have the deluxe in Toronto.TOverbyParticipantMilwaukee & Bloomington are very close to sold out.
Charleston is more than likely sold out because it is a Mountain Stage event and they don’t give the counts
Toronto was close to sold out a month ago-but I don’t get the counts for these either
New York night 2 may be sold out -I got an email from someone saying they couldn’t buy tickets
New York night 1 is doing great also -there are some left
Washington DC and Asheville are doing great and will almost for sure sell out
Ithaca,Boston & Red Bank are bigger theatres than the others-the counts are great but tickets still avail.Needless to say we are very happy with the way the shows are doing.
Thanks for all the support. -
