I wish I could -but it’s buried somewhere in the multitracks -I don’t think we never printed off a copy of the 12 minute version-but I might go back and see what i do have.

We still hope to get them all out on vinyl as soon as possible -we are coming up on the 20th Anniversary of Sweet Old World next year so that would be a good candidate for a re-issue -especially now that I’ve found some alternate recordings from the sessions with seemingly more stripped down versions production wise that I think are better than the official release. So much to do -so little time.

It looks like it might debut at Rolling Stone.com but that’s still being discussed. I can say that it will be interesting to see the response to this video, as I don’t think it’s going to be what might be expected.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the list has those artists on it as the one thing they all have in common is that they are fearless when it comes to their art. They are all risk takers and when you have that element you are going to have some experiments that might not work at times. But that risk taking also leads to greatness also. Lucinda is obviously particular about what she puts out but she is also very brave in that aspect. (i’ve always wanted to write a piece on why I think World Without Tears is one the riskiest records put out in a long long time-maybe ever) I think Wrap My Head underlines her fearlessness. Did we know it was potentially a “divisive” track, to use Popmatters word–yes definitely we knew it was something really different -we viewed it a talking blues done by the Velvet Underground. Could it have been left off-I suppose but we wanted some variety and the record felt different without it. The irony is that i’ve always been disappointed that we actually had a longer version where at the end Bill Frisell goes really psycho on the guitar -think Jimi Hendrix goes to mars-and Doug is right there dueling with him. Somewhere along the way most of that got edited out and I think now that that big crazy payoff at the end really needed to be there. With a track like that you gotta have that payoff but of course at that point is would’ve been about 12 minutes long. One of the greatest studio memories I personally have is summoning up the courage to tell one of our greatest living musicians, Mr. Frisell to “just go for it” at the end of Wrap My Head and he said “ok” and proceeded to play some of the most ferocious guitar I’ve ever heard. Unfortuntely it all didn’t make the cut, but probably just as well as it was pretty out there. But it was noting compared the completely off the hook version of Bone Of Contention that we tried during the Little Honey recordings -now that was really out there, but that’s another story.

As I recall there really isn’t that much of a back story. Basically RT felt they needed a video for Passionate Kisses and they needed to do it on the cheap. I believe it was all done in a day or two and I think the lizards were Lucinda’s idea -although it has nothing to do with her tattoo which she got 14 years later.

Lucinda has no other official videos although we have just done an animated video for Copenhagen which should be premiering in the next couple of weeks. It was done by the same animators who do the Squidbillies show.

This is definitely an unauthorized recording and the info has been passed on to Lucinda’s lawyer. I’m sure a cease and desist letter will go out shortly. I am sorry that this happened and we will be taking it up with I-Tunes.

Sorry you feel that way but we have a standard policy that she doesn’t sign as she’s going in to to start the show. No exceptions. And as far as I know that is pretty much the standard for most artists and has nothing to do with being too good for the fans. There are several reasons, but the main reason is that at that point she is in show mode -in effect she’s going to work—also if she stops to sign one, often times many others come up and then everyone inside is left waiting and the show doesn’t start on time. If the show doesn’t start on time and we have a curfew which we sometimes do then we may not have time to do the entire show. I don’t think any of that should be too hard to understand. And for the record she did come outside and sign and take pictures for everyone that was still there last night, so u weren’t the only ones waiting. It did take her longer to come out last night, not because she was meeting “special people”, but because we had a rare opportunity to film the show last night and we were doing some spontaneous aftershow filming including her signing outside. And I should also add that she has the right to meet with whoever she wants after the show- be it family, friends or fans as it often times is. The last thing I will say is that she is very very generous with her time and completely understands that her fans support her, but unfortunately it didn’t work out in your time frame last night. Sorry, but that sometimes happens.

Lucinda actually played an 1:17 –from 9:45 until 11:02 which was two minutes longer than they wanted us to play. She was supposed to start at 9:30 but there was a delay that was out of her control that caused the later start.

That’s because it has been made that long. Lucinda recorded her track not long after the West recording sessions- which would have been late summer 2006.

It looks like it’s finally coming out -Lu just got some press requests for it. Hard to believe how long this has taken and how long ago this was recorded.

More US dates coming soon starting late Sept. -that’s the good news.
Unfortunately the bad news is that was the result of not being able to work out the European dates for this fall, which we are very disappointed about but we really hope to be there next summer.

Surprised that this show is already out there. It will be a Lu & Blake show-the loose plan is it would be the last of a few other duo shows in Jan–but that is still very tentative.

We will definitely give you a heads up -both in here and on her Facebook fanpage. I inquired today about why tickets were not on sale yet and did not get an answer back but expect one tomorrow.

I Live My Life is a studio version and was recorded in the same session as Honey Chile which appeared on the Fats Domino tribute cd. Bone Of Contention is a full band studio version that was recorded during the Little Honey sessions.

Definitely no DVD as it wasn’t filmed. Any audio release would be a long way off, as i want to get the Rough Trade reissue out first.
