KeymasterRemarks from Tom:
“First night of three in Nashville -highlights : East Side Of Town, When I Look At The World, Hot Blood and Something About What Happens with very special guest Lee Ann Womack. Something About was also a tour debut so the song count is now at an even 70.”

KeymasterFrom Tom:
“Well this was a night for the books. Given that this was the fourth night of four, when we usually limit Lu to three in a row, just made it all that much more unlikely. At the last minute Lu added a couple songs that were special requests so the set was already a little longer than normal. But once again an incredible audience right from the beginning made the night, and it didnāt seem like it was going to end. Itās been a long time since Luās done a third encore, but some rare nights just happen that way. After the second encore Lu was part way down the backstage steps but no one was leaving and they were being very vociferous. At that point there was only one song left in the book (Hard Time Killinā Floor Blues) and no time to huddle to figure out what to do. At the end of Hard Time Killin Floor, Lu came over to the side of the stage and asked her guitar tech Justin to grab Hot Blood out of the master books -after a couple of frantic minutes he found it while the band was alreadt starting it. As the final notes of Hot Blood, the 27th song of this epic show, were fading out Lu started to wave and walk off the stage, but not before grabbing David Suttonās mic laughing and saying āLucinda Williams has left the buildingā.
Time for a needed day off.4 more songs made their tour debut, bringing the count to 69. (I did subtract one as someone pointed out that This Old Heartache was played in Lexington. “

KeymasterFrom T.O.:
“Kind of a crazy night. The show began with a very tired Lu and band trying to drum up some energy and not really sure what kind of audience it was going to be. It seemed like everyone on both sides was sort of feeling out the energy. Then somewhere in the middle of the set you could palpably feel the energy build within the audience and within the band. Suddenly everything changed and the crowd became very vocal -and signs with song requests started be put on stage and it was game on.Hot Blood was one of the handmade signs that someone put up on the stage during the first encore. Butch was not aware that Hot Blood had been added to the start of the second encore and started to play Rockinā In The Free World until everyone started yelling āNo, No, Noā. He quickly shifted to a very groovy version of Hot Blood and then Rockinā with the entire audience standing up front and singing along. A great night that didnāt seem like it was going to end up the way it did.”

KeymasterFrom Tom:
Long Drive and an early border crossing at the Thousand Island stationāgood thing we didnāt have to go all the way to Bleu Cheeseābut we made it to Toronto and the fantastic Massey Hall. Another great show -Lu and the band are just hitting on all cylinders. One person commented that heās been seeing Lu since the early days and heās never seen a show where it feels like a cohesive band as one unit-versus Lu playing in front of a backing band. It made sense at the time.
Tour debuts of Ventura (excellent) and I Just Want To See You So Bad. Great great crowd.
Now back to the US of A.”tonyg
KeymasterFrom Tom:
As good as the shows have been this very well might have been the best on this leg so far. The band was on fire āStuart has been playing with a injured finger since smashing it in a case in Dallas-and hasnāt said much about it and it definitely didnāt show tonight. Luās solo version of When I Look At The World was a stunner -you couldāve heard a pin drop. Great versions of Something Wicked and Foolishness as well.
Gotta take the long way to Toronto to avoid the snow storm -hereās hoping we make it. 2 more tour debuts brings the count up to 63.”tonyg

KeymasterRemarks from our embedded reporter:
“Quite a night at The Beacon. Thereās always a sense when youāre in NY that itās big show that has some extra importance. Last night was certainly no exception as there nearly 25 members of the press in the audience. In addition, Meryl Streep, Richard Gere, Tracy Ullman and director Jonathan Demme were in attendance. There was definitely a different energy in the air as Lucinda and the band took the stage. As they usually do Lucinda and the band completely rose to the occasion. There were many friends etc. there who have seen a lot of Lucinda’s shows in NY and there was several mentions that this was among her best ever, if not the best. Weāll take that.
Only one live debut last night -a spine tingling and touching version of Pale Blue Eyes in a tribute to Lou Reed. That puts the count at 61.
Next up Boston. ” š -
