You are correct. Not very gracious, bordering on arrogant. He is playing at Stephen Stills autism benefit tonight. If I see him I will ask him. 😆
tonygKeymasterExcellent report Aercool! Welcome to the Forum. 😀
tonygKeymasterIt’s a tough job ya know. 😉
tonygKeymasterWest and Blue! You really scored! 😀
PS. Oh shit you meant West Memphis didnt you. Never mind.
tonygKeymasterSaw that.
tonygKeymasterFrom Tom:
That was one for the ages. Seven weeks into an eight week tour we have had so many amazing audiences but this night in Louisville was unsurpassed. We are all still blown away. From the opening notes of Can’t Let Go it was like throwing a match into a pool of gasoline. During the second song I saw Lu turn to David and mouth the word “wow”, and she had a big grin on her face. I could just instantly see her energy change Lu and band were completely lifted up and it it just went upward from there. And did I mention that this was a Monday night. After the show Stuart told that towards the end of the show he was having trouble hearing his amps.
I could go on and on but I don’t know what else to say than thank you, thank you, thank you Louisville for one of the all timers -not just from this year -but any year.
That one will be not soon be forgotten.
May 3, 2016 at 10:01 pm in reply to: MEGA CONCERT – Dylan, Rolling Stones, McCartney, Neil Young #55145tonygKeymasterI am contemplating what to do about this. I feel I may be too elderly to survive 3 days and nights in the desert. Can’t they just show it on the teevee? 😀
Mike, what hotel were you contemplating?
P.S. I checked 20 hotels near the site. All sold out already. Maybe VIP packages scooped them all up?
P.P.S. I now see one in Palm Springs for $450 a night. And that is at least 10 miles away if not 20. 🙄
tonygKeymasterRemarks from Tom and the setlists:
Minneapolis is always a special place for us to go with so many family and friends -and of course it’s place where we received our nuptials, so there is much history there. This was the third time Lucinda has played a series of shows at the Dakota. The first time was solo, the second time was duo and this time was with the band, which was a little more challenging. It’s a great room but the configuration of it, with the back wall being so close to the stage presents some sound issues if it gets too loud. On night 1 I could sense that everyone was holding back just a little -just kind of feeling things out. As a result the ballads were very strong -especially Bus To Baton Rouge. It still ended up being a very solid kickoff night. Night 2 was Lucinda’s 5th show in 6 nights and I knew she was a little fatigued but she just continues to amaze with her stamina and fortitude. When you get about four weeks into a tour, it always seems to be the week that everyone starts to feel it, but once you get thru it -it’s like getting over the hump. Although she can’t played it for three years, Lucinda played If We Make It Thru Dec. as a tribute to Merle Haggard
After a well earned night off Lu and then were completely recharged and the audiences were a lot more energized also -but it was a Fri and Sat, which always helps, so it made for two very different shows than the first two. Night 3 kicked off with old favorite I Just Want To See You So Bad, and it’s feeling great as an opener. Fruits Of Labor and Cross To Bear in the encore were real highlights. Temporary Nature, Jackson and a great set ending version of Blessed were among the highlights of Night 4.
55 different songs in four nights and another great week at the Dakota.

tonygKeymasterMr. Stoger, I was thinking of a dedicated thread where we can all talk about ourselves, especially you. 🙂
tonygKeymasterFrom Tom:
This is the third time we’ve been to Stuart’s Opera House and it has simply become a must do tour stop. Built in 1879 with an amazing history including surviving of two fires, it’s the theater that refuses to die. The history just hangs in the air and it’s like no other place we go to. And yes there are ghosts, when you’re inside you would be surprised if there weren’t. Everytime we play it, the urge is to tone down the set slightly, because it’s this small historic theater, but this time I think we finally got the message. It only takes about three songs before people start yelling things like “Essence” and “let’s rock”. And so we did. Next time we’ll remember that.
tonygKeymasterMr. Stoger, through a veil of tears, and the occasional sob, I seem to recall meeting you somehwere, perhaps the Hard Rock Cafe in Anaheim (?), Although I had seen you in Northampton MA lurking outside the Calvin Theater as Tim and I sped away into the night about a year earlier but we did not meet. 8)
Edit: I do not remember the hand twirl.
tonygKeymasterGreat story! We all have our own fond memories of when we first encountered Mr. Stoger. 8)
tonygKeymasterHere ya go Stoger. From T.O.:
You know it’s going to be a special night when the audience helps you sing the second song of the set. Lu had a brief hesitation at the beginning of Can’t Let Go and the crowd just sang the line for her. Lu broke out in a huge smile and the energy in the room was undeniable. I think that single moment set the tone for two absolutely fantastic nights in Ann Arbor. During what was the best version yet of of If My Love Could Kill, you could hear a pin drop -at the end as the final notes died away we all heard a singular voice say “wow”. As great as the first night was with great versions of Those 3 Days, Are You Down and Dust -Stuart and the band were on fire – the second night I think may have even been better. Just two amazing nights on a tour that is probably Lucinda’s best ever.
The person who said “wow” had it exactly right.
tonygKeymasterGood catch Paul. Bluesman should follow the Europe 2016 thread for the straight skinny. 😉
