Yikes. Can you imagine if this happened during Lu’s show? Btw, The Swell Season features Glan Hansard and the girl with whom he did the movie “Once”, a great movie.

Here is the story from the San Jose paper:

Glad you and your son enjoyed the show, rteeter.

Doug set the bar very high, that’s for sure.

Well I woke up still alive and I am ready to post my thoughts on last night, which I’m sure you all breathlessly await. It was very nice to meet Stoger and to see Paul again as always. It was also very nice to meet Cindy and Stoger was kind enough to make sure I talked to Tom O. and Lucinda, who thankfully did not recoil in horror when she met me. Tom O. was gracious as always in hosting the devoted fans, stalkers, and the truly insane on the sidewalk after the show while the Ventura Theatre security tried to shoo us away. I hope Tom is feeling better this morning after his stumble last night and if he isn’t he sees a doctor.

It was 100 degrees yesterday and by the time I got to the theater, after a delicious dinner with my friend Etienne at the Watermark, I was hot and bothered and the theater was warm and stuffy. Or is it the other way around? The resin chairs were replaced by metal folding chairs and I indeed sat behind Stoger and Paul who themselves sat behind the dinner tables that no one seems to know how to buy tickets for. Chrissie Hynde and friends began at 8:05 and performed a pleasant set, albeit a whopper at 75 minutes long, of songs from their album that comes out next week. They were in good spirits. She and J.P. apparently are an item and the way things were going last night I expect them to be openly making out on stage by the end of the tour. Surprisingly, no one gave them the hook and they played until 9:20.

Lucinda hit the stage at 9:47 with Butch, David, and the new guy Val. LW, the band, and the crowd were all excited to be getting started. I will defer to Stoger’s song assessments but will add that Lucinda seemed concerned about the sound on stage all night, and Val’s guitar mike was feeding back and ruinig his vocals and harmonica playing. Val gets an “A” for effort for surviving his first night onstage.

For the encore Lucinda came out with an acoustic guitar and out walked Doug with his electric so I knew we would be treated to Side of The Road, which was awesome once the song lurched into gear finally. Great to see Doug out there with his friend Lucinda and they seemed very happy to be together in song. No Chrissie Hynde in sight for any encores which was a mild bummer.

There was an insane white haired woman dancing in front of the stage during several of the songs who was also imploring the crowd to do likewise. LW and the band seemed entertained by her antics. I saw her out by the bus after and I thought we were going to have some more fun but she left before LW emerged from her post-show meet and greet.

All in all a good start to this mini tour and I wish safe travels to our bus bound and train bound friends as they journey north.

P.S I almost forgot I met Webmasta and he is as pleasant and friendly as he is web talented and we are lucky to have him in our web corner. Way to go Webby!

P.P.S. The fashion report for Bob: LW is a blonde again and she wore jeans with cowboy boots, a tank top of some sort under a long sleeve blouse worn loosely, no hat, a big silver belt buckle, and the glasses as already reported. She looked nice.
