KeymasterI recorded the Grammys and fast forwarded to the part where the Beach Boys played Good Vibrations. Not bad. I also saw the 2 bands before them do Surfer Girl and Wouln’t It Be nice. Dreadful. And then they stayed on stage with the Beach Boys. Horrors!
I’ll watch the rest tonight.

KeymasterGreat find LWJ! We need more of those. Do you have a link to the ship webcam?

KeymasterOutstanding find, Paul. I will speculate away.
I see Richard Thompson is there. Taras has been touring with him. I wonder if he is there?

KeymasterI also ordered the CD and tee shirt!

KeymasterGreat show last night by Lu and the boys. Etienne, myself, Stoger, and West Words dined and drank before the show in Westwood Village and hoofed it up to the north end of the campus in time to take our seats around 7:30. Royce Hall had a bar which served water, beer, and wine and we partook of same. I did’nt see any food anywhere so it was a good thing we ate before hand. We bumped into GrumpyMama as we were walking in. It was a warm and pleasant evening. Paul from Los Angeles sat across the aisle from me.
Blake entered at 8:07 and departed at 8:40. Pretty much the same set as Tuesday. His songs show a humor that I like. Lu hit the stage at 9:10 and, as Paul reported, opened up with 3 songs solo before Blake came back out. Doug played a great pedal steel on Like a Rose and Ventura. Lucinda was in great voice again and looked great. The place was full. The set ended at 10:27.
Everyone immediately returned to play Factory with Doug on steel. The next song was Blessed with Blake and Doug each on guitar. Doug played a tremendous guitar solo on a song I wonder if he ever played before, exactly how it would have been on the record if he played on it. Doug and Blake dueled next on Joy and each of them peeled off great guitar solos and together during the duel. Great for both fellas. After Get Right With God, the show ended at 10:50.
Lucinda gave extended thank yous at the end and said she was grateful that everyone came out. Can’t argue with that. I heard someone say Jackson Browne was there, as he was at one of the El Rey shows. I saw Hal Wilner waiting at the back stage door.
Mad fun was had. It was great to see West Words, Stoger, Paul, GrumpyMama, Kev Madigan, and Doug and his son Ryan. Safe travels to our road warriors who are on southbound planes as I type.

KeymasterGreat report Paul. Rest up for tonight.

KeymasterGrumpyMama there is a public parking structure south on Hilgard from the hotel called Valet Parking Services. Don’t know why, there is no valet it is self-parking. I think it’s $7 daily. The nearest cross street is Weyburn.
tonyg
KeymasterI found a place:
Sepi’s 10968 Le Conte Westwood
It’s a small sports bar. Food and drinks. Le Conte forms the border between the UCLA campus and Westwood Village, running east-west. Sepi’s is on the west end of Le Conte. GrumpyMama, you could walk right down Le Conte from your end to the other end. I think I will park off the Sunset Blvd. entrance and walk down there and hopefully be there by 5:30 pm. Traffic will be a bitch.

KeymasterIf anyone has any ideas about where to meet before the show, please post them here. If not, I will head directly to the Royce Bar and hope for the best.
I know GrumpyMama will be at the Hotel W. That’s at the other end of the campus from Royce Hall. I will hoof it down there if that’s the place.
P.S. Hotel W is mega expensive. Valet parking only, $35. No self parking. Will search other options.
