KeymasterAs if I have any. I still am not wearing a jacket to work. Just a short sleaved shirt. And it’s November 1!

KeymasterGood info. Giants cap noted.

KeymasterI may have to move there if you are going to miss Anne’s shows. 😮

KeymasterStoger is Anne’s number one fan. I am sure he is all over this.

KeymasterPsychedelic Pill arrived today and I am listening to it now. Takes up 2 cds! I had heard most of the songs already, either from the Central Park concert that was on TV, the NY & CH show at the Hollywood Bowl, and the 2 Bridge School shows. So I was ready for it.
Neil’s guitar playing is great. Crazy Horse also plays great. There are some tremendous jams on this record. Neil says in his book that these are the first songs he has written not stoned. Some of the lyrics are the simplest he has ever written; no attention given to rhyme or rhythm. A couple of the songs you could switch the lyrics with other songs and it would not make any difference.
Great, warm sounding record with Neil wailing away on Old Black like crazy is what we have here. I give it an A plus.

KeymasterGreat report!

KeymasterA few remarks. It was a long weekend of music, two 9 hour days in a row. Saturday was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. Once the sun went down, a breeze picked up and it was time for the jacket. I was impressed by KD Lang and her excellent voice. She really got the crowd going. Steve Martin and band were excellent. Foster the People brought a lot of energy. I wanted to like Jack White but I could not get into what he was doing. He was very busy up there, running around and such. I did not care for GNR. Neil and Crazy Horse were great. It was great to see Doug for a little while after their set.
Sunday was supposed to be cooler but I didn’t need my jacket all day for some reason. KD Lang was again great. Steve Martin again great and hilarious. Lu’s duet with Ray Lamontagne was entertaining. GNR’s set improved vastly when Neil Young joined them for a strange and excellent version of Don’t Let it Bring You Down. We met Pegi Young, and the executive director of the Bridge School Doctor something or other, since we were sitting near the entrance to and from the VIP bar/backstage area. We also spied Amber Young and Zeke Young going back and forth. Tim met Billy Talbot. We also saw David Sutton wandering around.
All in all well worth the time and expense and travel and I will go again some year.

KeymasterLu just finished:
Can’t let go
Fruits of my labor (with Ray Lamontagne)
Marching the Hate Machines into the sun (with 2 of The Flaming Lips)
Get right with godNeil & Ch did the same set as last night, except did not play Like A Hurricane. It was getting late. No Lu and band at finale.

KeymasterHere is the NY & CH set for Lefty:
Love and Only Love
Powderfinger
Born in Ontario
Needle and the Damage Done
Twisted Road
Singer Without a Song
Ramada Inn
Like a HurricaneThe finale was the usual Rockin in the Free World. Lukas Nelson, who performed on a second stage as we were walking in, took Neil’s guitar and played a very excited solo. I did not see Lu or her band on the stage for the finale. Wonder if there is a story there.
Today’s show starts 2 hours earlier and at least 10 degrees colder.

KeymasterSnug as a bug in my hotel room after the show. Very long day. Music started about 4:15 and ended close to 12:30. Lu was in great voice and Doug played a killer solo on Joy using his effects board. Doug said Neil mentioned it to him. Ray Lamontagne was also tremendous, just he and a bass player. I am not a KD Lang fan but she sang the shit out of several songs. Jack White entertained with his all girl band. Neil Young and Crazy Horse were stupendous, doing an acoustic version of Like a Hurricane as a closer.
It was a gorgeous warm sunny day but once the sun went down a breeze arrived and it got nippy. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

KeymasterThe set list:
World Without Tears
Everything Has Changed
Joy
AngelFirst 3 songs with Doug and David. Last song Lu solo.

KeymasterWe are heading north in about an hour or so. If anyone else is going, let’s hear it! I think this is going to be a great weekend. 🙂
