TomOverbyParticipant
Good god.Pretty unbelievable that that show would be called “outlaw country”- or any kind of country (is there an in-law country also?). There wasn’t anything about that set that would beg that description. Hard to take issue with a positive review but I find that kind of writing lazy, un knowledgable and complete mis-information, which ends up being unfair to the artist. Outlaw country by the truest definition was Waylon and Willie (and the boys) – and by my recollection Lucinda didn’t exactly do a cover of Luckenbach, Texas. I guess at this point, Lu could do a whole show of Metallica songs and it would still get called outlaw country. I’ll bet the fantastic sold out audience didn’t even realize that they were at an outlaw country show until they read it today.
There’s my Sunday afternoon bus rant.
Last night WAS a great example of an audience that really connected and lifted up Lu and the band from note one- she was talking about how great that was. Thanks Clearwater for a great night.TomOverbyParticipantWe’ll, Tony I all I can tell you is that whoever Inclandestinely slipped you the purported info didn’t have it quite right. I think your satellite eavesdropping technology needs an update.
TomOverbyParticipantHmmmm….it seems we have a leak from an interloper – where exactly was he hiding in the house. And how did he manage to compile all this clandestine information? Has he hacked in to the NSA which of course guards every newly recorded music project. Somehow the forum’s version of Edward Snowden has infiltrated the very unsecured new Lucinda record. How did he do that? Experts are being called in as we speak.
TomOverbyParticipantThings are coming together great so I’m hoping to be able to be in here a little more when we are on the road.
TomOverbyParticipantHere is what I can tell you right now. There are no other shows around the Chicago date -it is a one off festival show that also features the singer of a very prominent Chicago based band sharing the headline. This definitely will not connect to the Portland and Seattle shows. Gotta give the boss a little time off.
We are working on setting up the shows for probably Oct/Nov after the release of the album in later Sept.
We will also be doing a show on 9/26 on the Santa Monica Pierat the ocean here in LA. THe fall tour will probably kick off a week or so after that.
Needless to say there are lots of things happening.
TomOverbyParticipantYes – Lucinda wasn’t feeling well so we couldn’t make the trip. Not quite the same thing as a no show, as the review stated.
TomOverbyParticipantYes– the band on the upcoming tour will the same as it has been recently: Butch Norton, drums, David Sutton, bass and Stuart Mathis, guitar.
TomOverbyParticipantRight now the only shows confirmed are Portland, Seattle and then our first trip up to Alaska. There might be a few shows before and after but nothing set yet.
TomOverbyParticipantFYI –I wasn’t given a promo code for Portland so I’m not sure what is happening with that but will find out.
TomOverbyParticipantI think there was supposed to be a presale for that but it might not have happened. I couldn’t find where they sent me a password but here is the link: https://tickets.tarrytownmusichall.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=1521
The public sale starts tomorrow at noon.
TomOverbyParticipantVMorris–Glad you got tix. I’ve been working the last hour to reset my sign in here -which hasn’t worked for quite awhile -and which is the reason for my absence in here for awhile -in addition to being stupidly busy. In any even the password at Saxapahaw is Lu2014 so you were very close with what you were trying.
TomOverbyParticipantOk– I just can’t resist anymore.
To answer your question Hullsy–I am.
To Pitbull — I’m really curious how you “know” that the suits on her mannagement team are trying to broaden her audience. Did we have a conversation about it, I’m sorry I don’t recall it.
But mostly, I am very amused by your use of the word “suits”– first, because I have had a lifelong aversion to actually wearing them, and second, I noticed that it is plural -which must mean that I am quadrophrenic and all of my personalities that make up the management “team” are sartorially gifted. I’ll take it as a compliment. Now in regards to the opening slot for Mr. Mellencamp. Not that it needs defending in any way, and my response here is in no way an attempt to-because just the idea that it needs defending is ridiculous but enough about that. I am responding because I don’t think there is any harm in me sharing what the thought process was, because, while many things go into these types of decisions, in the end it was very simple. John is a big fan of Lucinda’s (and covered her song Lafayette) and I know for a fact that he has wanted her to open for him for several years. When a longtime fan and member of the RRHOF asks you to open for him–that is an honor and above all else shows his true respect for Lucinda. Whether you love his music or hate his music, his career and his ability to sustain over time in an ever more difficult and shrinking music business, just like Lucinda, is undeniable. He deserves the respect back that he has shown Lucinda-and the evidence of that respect is very apparent in the space he has given Lucinda in the fullpage ads he has taken out the biggest newpapers in this country. It was incredible to see that. He didn’t have to that. That’s class.
And lastly– Pit Bull– I have to agree with you about the Emek poster- it’s very cool– in fact I thought it was so cool that I gave a signed and numbered print of it to Lucinda for Christmas this past year. Now if we could just find the time to get it framed…
Oh yeah -the new record- to answer a question from another thread–it doesn’t have a name yet but it has been the hot topic of discussion for the last few days because it has to be decided soon. Is one of the titles in contention one that has been considered before? Maybe.
The record was mastered yesterday and beyond all the great songs it is a fantastic sounding record -(even better than West) -for those of you that care about sound quality. She is very excited about it. I think you can expect it in early to mid -Sept., but I promise it won’t go any later than that.
Danny Clinch, the great photographer who shot the cover of World Without Tears (and all of Bruce’s recent records among others), will be doing a photoshoot next week with with Lu. Should be great. Thanks for all the love and support of Lucinda. It is appreciated more than you could ever know.
One more thing–we are hoping to make some improvements to website etc. in the coming months- we have some cool ideas, but I would welcome any suggestions on how to make the site better–and anything else for that matter.
Now I gotta get back to work and work on the rest of the tour, among other things, so we can come see you this year (and next probably).
Who put a quarter in me. I knew I should’ve left all this to IJ.Rock on,
TomPS –Keep an eye out for the new Tim Easton record also probably coming in Sept. – it is a really great record
