P.S. Fashion report for those interested: Lu had on her “cool blue” squarish-shaped glasses, a white w/ blue print snap-front “cowboy” shirt, jeans w/ belt w/ large silver buckle, and those awesome black with silver studs Old Gringo cowboy boots that inspired me to get a pair of Old Gringo boots (of a different style) for my wife this past Christmas…

I just got home (I never can sleep on the road!) and, since my “co-conspirators” are almost assuredly still travelling, I will do my best to piece together a set list from last night. Please bear in mind, this is completely from my (faulty) memory… 😉

********** NOTE: Out of order set list!!! **********
I Just Wanted To See You So Bad
    Happy Woman Blues (Val smoked!)
    I Don’t Know How Your’re Living
    Crescent City
    2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten
    Born To Be Loved
Something About What Happens When We Talk
    I Lost It
Real Live Bleeding Fingers & Broken Guitar String
    Buttercup
    Essence
    People Talkin’
    Convince Me
    Right In Time
    Righteously
    Essence
    Come On
    Changed The Locks

Encore (to loud applause & hootin’ & hollerin’):
    Blessed
    Get Right With God
    Joy

2nd Encore (to THUNDEROUS applause & hootin’ & hollerin’):
    For What It’s Worth
********** NOTE: Out of order set list!!! **********

That’s all I can remember for now. I am almost 100% positive all the songs I listed above were played, but I am sure I butchered the order (except for the encores – I think I got that right, order & all, despite the cold beer dripping down my back at the time… 🙄 ).

If any others come to me, I will add them – I’m pretty sure I left at least a couple out – Lu & the band played for almost 2 hours, and the set lists taped to the floor of the stage were 1½ pages long. West Words and / or stoger will be along shortly, I am sure, to “set this list” straight… 😉

Hi campbesj! Welcome to the forum!! I’m sorry that our two encounters tonight were so brief that we didn’t properly introduce each other, but hopefully we can rectify that at another Lu show in the future. I am glad to see you registered & posted, though!

Well, it’s 3:15 AM, but I had to post something about tonight’s show at the Orange Peel before I tried to go to sleep. Tonight’s show ROCKED OUT!!! The setlist was geared to a high energy crowd that was ready to rock out, and Lu & the boys didn’t disappoint, and neither did the audience. I have to say that tonight’s crowd was the LOUDEST & MOST ENERGETIC crowd I can remember ever witnessing at a Lu show. You could tell that Lu & the band were honored by the reception they received, and they fed off of the energy & delivered a wonderful performance. Congratulations Lu, Butch, David & Val for a great show! And, congratulations Asheville & the Orange Peel for responding so well in return. Y’all made this Southern Boy proud!

Having learned in the past that others from the Friendly Forum do a better job of tracking & posting the details of the set list, I have given up trying to live up to their high standards. So, I do not have a set list to post right now, but I am sure West Words or stoger will be posting one in short order. 😉

I do want to say that it was again a pleasure to spend another evening & Lu performance with my dear “Lu buds” stoger, Lafayette & West Words, as well as seeing some other folks who I haven’t seen in too long, most notably Randy & Cathy (Or is it Kathy? or Kathi? 😉 ) from Birmingham, who I haven’t seen in over 2 years (since the Tabernacle show in Atlanta in February, 2009). It was also a pleasure meeting forum member Rainydayman & his friend Anna, as well as West Words friends’ Cathy & Catherine. I enjoyed spending the evening with all of y’all!

    Good Night,

    Tom

I just checked into my hotel in downtown Asheville. Now I need to find stoger & West Words. Just talked to Lafayette – she’s still on the road…

So, not having met West Words but did have the pleasure of stoger’s company in TO ( I think that’s him too ) can you spot her beside/in front/behind stoger ?

Well, that’s part of why I’m confused. That could be West Words second from the front far right (in the photo), with the cup on the stage in front of her. If so, that could be Roger’s shoulder to her right, meaning the other gentleman is (obviously) not stoger. Unless, for some reason, they were not standing together…

I’ve tried to make out anyone from the Friendly Forum up front in that second photo, but I can’t quite do it. That might be stoger three deep, visually in front of Lu’s set list taped to the rug (from the photographer’s perspective)… ❓

Speaking of the liner notes photos, I also like the one of the blonde woman standing in front of the tire-rutted, muddy field. There’s something about the look in her eyes… World-weary & knowing…

Oh, OK – so the picture of Haile Selassie was originally on his photo, but it was “whited out” in the photo that was used as one of the album covers?

And what about your “other favorite photo” of the cab driver – is that the one in the liner notes after the lyrics?

the cab driver–but the problem with the first picture was that he was holding a picture of Haile Selassie the revered Jamaican leader from the 40’s who later Bob Marley and the later Jamaican rastafarians looked to as their prophet. Anyway Universal made us take out the Haile Selassie pic that he was holding for fear a lawsuit from the estate.

Are you referring to the same cab driver that is pictured in the liner notes (first photo after the lyrics)? Was he the one holding a picture of Haile Selassie?

A great pleasure to relax in a comfortable seat with a glass of wine (actually 2, I spilled half of the 1st glass), instead of struggling with the crowds at Webster Hall.

Well, “For What It’s Worth”, I am looking forward to the the energy & fun of “struggling with the crowds” up front by the stage at The Orange Peel in Asheville tomorrow night. 😉 Personally, I much prefer the standing shows to the sedate, sitting ones (and I am afraid that the Atlanta show in April at the Cobb Energy Centre is going to be one of the latter). But, as they say, “different strokes for different folks”!

Thanks for posting the setlist, P_from_LA. Speaking of Atlanta, will I be seeing you there, Paul?

Thanks for posting these, tnt! Even better with “Blessed” being promoted with a banner underneath the photos.

Yup! That banner ad automatically (i.e., without reloading the page) cycled through several different ones. So, naturally, I waited until the one for Blessed appeared to take each screenshot… 😉
