Here is an article from the HoustonPress about iFest. Odd that they mentioned Townes Van Zandt wasn’t pictured in the caption under the picture of Lu, seeing as how he passed away over 14 years ago… π

tntracyParticipantFort Stewart, GA?!?! That’s the home of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, down next to Savannah. They have been very active in Iraq. Also, Fayetteville, NC is home to Fort Bragg. Is Lu doing a benefit for the troops?

You lose a whole syllable going from “everybody” to “everyone” (though they are synonymous really), and the great rhythm established off the bat would be completely whacked by the line delivered as the blogger said.
And, if I may jump on the “nit-pick bandwagon” as it were (not being judgmental here, stoger), in my mind “everybody” is a bit more “Southern” than “everyone”. The “body” in “everybody” is just more evocative of the South to my ear, IMHO (confirming your “cyberspeak”, stoger). As in, “A body would have to get up very early in the morning to sneak a mispoken Lu ‘fact’ past that stoger”. π

tntracyParticipantNot only was the release year of CWOAGR as stated in the article incorrect, stoger, but I think the author needs to check the release month of Blessed. A “preview [emphasis added] of two songs from her new album”? Really? π

tntracyParticipantBoth added, LWJ!

What a show and what a thrill thanks to (tntracy)Tom!! I can’t tell you how much your hospitality meant to me and my family. I have never met a nicer group of “strangers”. Thanks to stoger, west words, sarah, tntracy and Tom a family from Savannah could not have been made to feel more welcome.

It was a pleasure meeting you, Bunny & Lauren, Kevin. I’m so glad everything worked out! It was very touching seeing Lauren meet & interact with Lu. It was a moment I’ll never forget.
God Bless…

tntracyParticipantGreat, great show last night. Blake continues to impress & amaze me with his skills on guitar (for example, he can make his slide guitar sound a lot like a pedal steel). Very nice venue, excellent acoustics, and a very receptive, excited crowd. Lu mentioned from the stage & afterwards how much she loves playing in Atlanta. Made this Georgia Boy proud… 8)
I do believe West Words will be on later with the set list. I have to run out this morning & will be out of “Internet range” all day, so I will limit my comments to those above & defer to West Words and stoger to flesh out the details. Stoger’s will be late in coming as well, as he is leaving our guest room early for a drive to Nashville for a date w/ Anne McCue at the Bluebird Cafe… π

tntracyParticipantHere’s an article / interview from today’s Atlanta Journal & Constitution as a preview for tonight’s show…

tntracyParticipantThanks, ParkerCA. But, we’re honestly not at all upset about the car. What is done is done. Canβt very much do anything about it now! Besides, with no broken glass, we got off relatively easy. Especially compared to the poor folks throughout the South who lost their homes yesterday….or worse.
We’ve decided to just live with it. The car is 5 years old & has almost 110k miles on it. Besides, if we made a claim with the insurance company, we’d probably spend more on the deductible & the increased premiums over the years that we would if we paid to have it fixed ourselves…

tntracyParticipantCheck out the cool little souvenir I got after the show in Charlotte!
Tom
tntracyParticipantThanks for the color commentary, West Words. That hail storm was something else. The damage to our car was worse than I thought last night after I got a chance to see it in the light of day. The roof & hood of our Prius look like the surface of a golf ball, what with all the dents… π

tntracyParticipantOh my, a heck of a night last night! Severe thunderstorms rolled through Knoxville all evening, “highlighted” by a hail storm (grape-sized up to nearly ping-pong-ball-sized) right around showtime at 8:00 PM. My car suffered some hail damage, and Lu commented upon taking the stage how unnerving it was to be on the bus when the hail fell.
I am typing this on my iPad in a McDonald’s parking lot near my hotel in Knoxville – the WiFi was down at my hotel last night after the show and this morning. I will enter the set list quickly, but then I need to hit the road….
MAIN SET
Buttercup
Drunken Angel
Pineola (This was penned in as a last minute change – stoger & I noticed Nick making the changes on the stage before Lu & the band came out – along with striking “CWOAGR” which was originally listed between “Buttercup” & “Drunken Angel”)

tntracyParticipantHi, Dwayne! Welcome to the forum! I was at the show in Charlotte Tuesday night & met Noelle & Betty there (I am the moderator here whom they mentioned to you). I live in North Georgia & will be at the show in Atlanta Friday night. Send me a private message here on the forum if you want & we can perhaps meet before the show. A couple of other folks from here in the forum, West Words & stoger will be there as well (they were at the show in Charlotte also). I am in Knoxville this morning after seeing Lu’s show here last night, and am about to leave to drive back home, so I will be offline for the rest of this morning into this afternoon, but will check back here later today…
