The CD of the “Crossing Jordan” soundtrack is available on Amazon for seven bucks, new.

Apart from Lu’s cover of Tom Waits’ Hang Down Your Head, you get Alison Krauss doing Can’t Find My Way Home, and Richard Thompson doing a blistering version of Donavan’s Season Of The Witch.

Not to mention series star Jill Hennessey’s versions of It’s All Over Baby Blue and others.

    Worth it.

Agreed. I just ordered it. One more off of the list… πŸ˜‰

I haven’t found “Hang Your Head” on either iTunes or Amazon, Parker. It’s on my “Need To Get” list. FYI, the original version by Tom Waits is there, albeit only in 128 kbps (I’m picky about sound quality & trying to get everything in 256 kbps via iTunes Plus or Amazon).

As for that Bo Ramsey tune, I’ve listened to it in its entirety since originally posting the list above, and I for the life of me cannot hear Lu’s voice anywhere. I love the song, but it doesn’t sound like anyone else is singing on it w Bo. I’ve also listened to samples (at AMG) from all the other tracks on the album, and I didn’t hear Lu in those samples, either. Hmmmm. The quote from allmusic.com that lead me to believe she was singing on “Desert Flower” was, “More contemporary figures are celebrated on In the Weeds as well — the wistful ‘Desert Flower’ is a tribute to Lucinda Williams, who also contributes harmony vocals.” Can you hear her in the track, Parker?

Funny thing is, I really like what I hear on the rest of the album & will probably buy the whole thing as a result. It’s no surprise – as we all know, Bo used to play w & produce Lu. And, I saw him play with Pieta Brown (his wife it turns out), and was blown away by his guitar playing. But, I’m still straining to hear Lu in this song. Maybe I’ll hear her once I get the whole album… πŸ˜•

One of the reasons why Emmylou is so special (besides her great voice and musical talents) is her work to help rescue dogs from shelters in the Nashville area.

Hear! Hear! (Or should I say Woof! Woof!) Anyone who supports dog rescue is A-OK by me. My wife & I have 3 rescued “mutts” (and I use that word lovingly – mixed breeds are the best!) ourselves.

Adopt from a Shelter / Rescue Organization! Don’t Buy from a Pet Store or Breeder!

And, you can download a 256 kbps MP3 of “Mamas…” on the 16th from Amazon. Here is a link.

She didn’t when I saw her headline a show a few weeks ago here in Atlanta…

But, if you get her new album, “Drastic Fantastic”, and install the “OpenDisc” stuff from it, you can download a free 256 kbps MP3 of a live version of it (along with live versions of “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”, “Suddenly I See” & “Saving My Face”).

    I agree – I love her voice.

It’s a shame, though, that she has the personal problems she does. Seems like such a waste.

And, it’s a bigger shame the d@mn media won’t leave her alone about it all. Despite all the perks, it must really suck to be famous these days…

We’ll try to come up to Asheville or Nashville (or maybe even Knoxville) to catch one of those shows – thanks for posting them!

Have y’all ever looked into playing the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta? I think it would be a great venue to see Lucinda (from a fan’s perspective – I can’t say what the backstage accommodations are like). It’s an old movie theater in a funky area of Atlanta called Little Five Points. It has a lot of comfortable seats, plus a standing room area up front. Also, a balcony. Just a suggestion if y’all are looking for alternate venues here… πŸ˜‰

Neither this show or the one in Boston in October are listed anywhere (I checked the “Shows” list here, and Pollstar.com & High Road Touring). All of them stop with the Sept. 6th show in Santa Cruz.

Does anyone know when all the dates on this new tour will be announced?

Your’re right, Tim – my bad. When I went to the link & saw the cover art from the previous album at the top of the page, I didn’t bother reading the review (I was in a hurry to catch up on the posts here as I only had a few minutes before having to leave), I assumed it was of the album I have. Kinda weird that they put the cover art of “Charlie Louvin” at the top like that, but I guess that was the only graphic they had.

    That’s what I get for being in a hurry… 😳

This is a very good album – I picked up a copy when we saw Charlie open for Lu at the Kentucky Theater in Lexington, KY & got him to sign it for me in the lobby after his set….

Cool – thanks for the heads up, Lefty. I’ll be getting that disc for sure – good cause, too…

P.S. Google led me to the following track list for this CD:

    1. Silver Springs β€” Patty Loveless
    2. Lay Down Sally β€” Delbert McClinton
    3. Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys β€” Lucinda Williams
    4. You Better Move On β€” Levon Helm
    5. Life Has Its Little Ups And Downs β€” Raul Malo
    6. I Ain’t Never β€” Little Richard
    7. I Don’t See Me In Your Eyes Anymore β€” Randy Travis
    8. You’ve Got To Fight For Your Right To Party β€” Big & Rich
    9. What A Difference A Day Makes β€” Willie Nelson
    10. Give Back The Key To My Heart β€” Dwight Yoakam
    11. What Happened β€” Bekka Bramlett
    12. Welfare Music β€” John Hiatt
    13. A Satisfied Mind β€” Vince Gill

P.S.S. I went to Amazon.com to see if I could pre-order the CD – The physical CD wasn’t listed, but MP3 downloads are listed (but not available until Sept. 16th). Click here for the download page for Lu’s song & to hear a sample of it…

Good thread. I’ve made my thoughts clear on these topics on some show review threads, so I won’t repeat myself but to say that none of this bothers me in the least. The only exception would be a short set due to a late start combined with a venue curfew (something I have not experienced if my memory serves). That would be a shame to me because it would reduce the amount of Lu’s live music I get to see / hear – none of the others do! πŸ˜‰
