Yes, Joe South, 72, of Flowery Branch, GA (not far at all from where I live) passed away yesterday.

    Rest in peace, Mr. South…

Better yet, there is an “I forgot my password” link underneath the user name & password entry fields on the sign-on screen. Click it, and an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you originally registered with containing instructions on resetting your password…

The only commercially available version of this song I am aware of is on the Live from Austin TX: Austin City Limits ’89 DVD

Wow, thanks for the heads up, ParkerCA – I’ll hold off on the purchase of the entire DVD & just download the MP3 of Lu’s contribution (“Hurt”).

I like much of Train’s stuff, especially their first two albums (and they do an incredible cover of Zeppelin’s “Ramble On” that is kind of hard to find – they play it a lot live, but the studio version was released on CD only as a limited edition promotional single – I found a used one on eBay a while back), and I usually like Pat’s vocals. I checked out the sample of “It Ain’t Me Babe” at Amazon.com, but it featured only him & Shelby Lynne singing the chorus together, so it was kind of hard to tell how bad he sucked, but I will take your word for it… 😉

Ms. Muth & company have a new EP entitled Old Gold containing five covers & one original song, out July 24th. Here is a mini-review and here is a link to purchase the digital download at Amazon.com…

Among others – “Cosmic Doo Doo” comes to mind, for example… 😆

(BTW, the song about Idi Amin is entitled, “Springtime In Uganda”… 😉 )

Here is a video of “Temple Beautiful” from Chuck’s performance at the EARL Saturday night, shot by the guy standing to my immediate right…

GREAT show in East Atlanta at the EARL last night. Chuck & the Mission Express were on FIRE – one of the better shows I have ever seen by any band. We stood right up front for the entire show – the sound was great & Chuck was as engaging & entertaining as ever, and he & James DePrato shredded on guitar. Good, enthusiastic crowd as well – I’d estimate 250 – 300 people.

No set list (taking notes while standing is too much of a PITA for me – sorry), but the songs I do recall him playing include:

    You Been Gone
    Would You Love Me? (Yes!)
Doubter Out of Jesus (All Over You) (Double yes!)
    Summertime Thing
You Did (Bomp Shooby Dooby Bomp)
Shake Some Action (Flamin’ Groovies cover)
    Bangkok (Alex Chilton cover) (Awesome!)
Count The Days 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 (Stephanie came out front to sing this song from her album “Cry Tomorrow” by Stephanie Finch & the Company Men)

And, from their new album, Temple Beautiful:

    Play That Song Again
    Castro Halloween
    Temple Beautiful
Wille Mays is Up At Bat
The Left Hand & The Right Hand
    White Night, Big City

(Sorry, West Words, still no “I Felt Like Jesus”… 🙁 )

Just to my right, a guy with a strong, steady arm recorded the entire show on a digital camera, complete with a lot of pan & zoom that looked like it would come out pretty cool. After the show, I got his Facebook page info from him where he said he would post a link to the video on YouTube. When he does, I will post the link here…

This run ends with the 8/25 Telluride show -won’t be any after that. It is quite possible – with the exception of a couple shows in SF in early Oct. around Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (not confirmed yet and probably 60/40 chance of happening) that this leg will be it for the US this year.

    Damn.

    Just damn. 😥
