This reply especially for Tom (tntracy). For February 28 in Atlanta, I notice that High Road Touring specifies the Variety Playhouse, but Ticketmaster lists the Tabernacle, with sales beginning Friday, 12/12.

Thanks for the heads up, Paul. You’re indeed right & tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 AM according to TM. Of course, I’m getting a pair regardless of the venue, but it is nice to see that the tickets are available tomorrow morning. I also need to get some tickets to Kathleen Edwards tomorrow as well…

Man, Paul – you’re good. I just checked yesterday & there was nothing new…

WOO HOO!!! An Atlanta date at the Variety Playhouse at the end of February!! I mentioned this venue to Tom in another thread several months ago – I don’t know if this is coincidence or not, but I’m pumped. The VP is an old converted movie theater in a funky area called Little Five Points. It has seating (the old cushy movie theater fold up seats) in the back 3/4 of the center of the floor and in the balcony, and then an open area up front by the stage and on the sides of the floor. At least, it’s been that way for nearly every show I’ve seen there save for one – Cowboy Junkies had temporary seating all the way to the stage up front. But, I don’t think it’ll be that way for Lu – at least I hope not! 😉

    Hmmm, and New Orleans – that’s only a 10 hour drive… 😈

Elton John in Atlanta at The Omni (the arena where the NBA Hawks & the NHL then-Atlanta Flames played – it no longer exists – it was torn down & replaced with Philips Arena) in 1974 or 75. The Kiki Dee Band opened. “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”, indeed…

And, yes, I do indeed remember Triumph! 😉

My wife got me this DVD for christmas and I found it in her hiding place but couldn’t wait a month to see it. So late one night I slipped it in the DVD player and watched it. What an awesome show. She looks great and I love all the old songs. I hope she doesn’t notice the wrap is removed.

Tsk, tsk, Steve. Santa will be so disappointed in you!

I have drank alcohol on a regular basis for years and occasionally been extremely drunk as a result of it. but I do not consider that I have a problem and certainly not a disease! Not everyone that drinks regularly, nor everyone that gets a little too drunk once in a while is a raging alcoholic that needs to ‘admit they have a problem!’ I can quite happily go for days or even weeks without a drink, and often do, but I enjoy a few drinks with friends and sometimes, rarely, if the mood is right, I enjoy having a few too many – although not necessarily the day after!

    Philthy,

You and I need to meet up for a drink or three – you sound like my kind of fellow. If you ever find yourself in Atlanta, look me up… 😆 😉 😀

Thanks, fuji81 – the focus, IMHO, sorely needs to be changed.

I look forward to the new tour with great anticipation… 😉

Pitbull, I respect your honesty about your life and wish you continued success with your endeavors. However, any judgement on LW’s lifestyle is unfair and unfounded. I don’t care how many times you’ve seen her back stage – you don’t really know the ins and outs of the life she lives. And more importantly it’s none of our business and I believe shouldn’t be up for discussion on here. Your original post was disappointment with her show and that’s cool – I agree with philty – there is no right or wrong opinion about whether LW is better now or before. It will always be a subjective conversation to which all opinions are welcome and necessary to make this forum work.

I could not agree more. Well said.

I have been intentionally staying out of this discussion after my initial post because I felt that there was no point any more; i.e., no minds were going to be changed. But, after the latest “twist” in the discussion, I feel compelled to point out that what Lu does in her personal life is her business. And furthermore, she does not deserve, in my honest opinion, such unfounded and rampant speculation about what she does or does not do off stage & outside the recording studio. Good Lord, this is starting to sound like some kind of supermarket tabloid or something. Next, I suppose someone will start gossiping about her sex life for Pete’s sake… 🙄

No, that’s not true. While it is indeed a true story, she actually wrote it about a poet & friend of her family’s named Frank Stanford who committed suicide in the 1970’s while she was living at her folks’ house in Fayettevile, Arkansas. The one fact that she took poetic license with and changed in the song was that the family was Pentecostal – in reality, they were Catholic. As she tells the story, she changed it in the somg to make it more of a “Southern Gothic” theme.

You can read more about Mr. Stanford in this Wikipedia article. Notice in the article it mentions “Pineola”…

Thanks for the reply & explanation, WebMASTA. I do not envy the legal hassles you & others have to go through to offer Lu’s fans these digital downloads. But the effort is much appreciated.

And, not to pile on, but are there any plans for offering “rare” tracks; i.e., unreleased stuff, demo versions, etc.?

    Thanks,

Wow, sorry to hear that, Pit Bull. But, it’s funny how different people have different perceptions when seeing the exact same thing. I have a good friend who lives in the Bay Area who was at the Sunday night show. When I e-mailed him yesterday asking what he thought of the show, he responded, “It was one of my favorite Lu shows. It really shows that she’s happy these days.” (that is a quote). And he’s seen her at least 8-10 times over the last 5 years.

While I think both your & his responses (and heck, mine as well on shows I see) are both “authentic”, it just goes to show that we all see things from own own perspectives & with our own expectations and biases. I just hate to hear things like this from Lu’s fans.

And, selfishly speaking, I DO NOT want her to take a year or two off from touring! Furthermore, I would have loved to have been there in the Filmore both nights! 😉
