AND, would this be it? Not even sure this is a valid link? Are tower records still around?

No, that is the re-released “Deluxe Edition” of CWOAGR. Disc 1 is a remastered version of the same final release of the album, with the addition of “Down The Big Road Blues” & the original “Out Of Touch” from the unreleased “Gurf Morlix” version of CWOAGR before the re-recording. Disc 2 is a live set recorded at Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia, PA during the WXPN Singer-Songwriter Festival, July 11, 1998. You can buy this set pretty much anywhere, while the “Gurf Morlix” version was never officially released & is only available via unofficial (i.e., “bootleg”) channels. Still worth getting, however. The live set on disc 2 is particularly good, IMHO.

tntracyParticipantOh, I misunderstood. It isn’t from a Lucinda show, but Tom Waits w/ Lucinda. Still something I want to get a copy of, but not something I was there to see live…

Lucinda Williams who will issue a double 7″ of live tracks from Atlanta and Edinburgh
Sweet! If the Atlanta track(s) were recorded in the last 6 years, then I was there! Good thing I still have a turntable, albeit in the box in a closet. I’ll hook it up for this…

I thought that May of ’09 was when Tom Overby said the re-release of the Rough Trade Album would happen. Not sure if this is what is being referred to.
Steve
Oh yeah, that could be it. If so, I hope there are some unreleased goodies included as bonus tracks…
Tom
tntracyParticipantThanks for the setlist & report, Tim.

Itโs early to judge how the band is going to sound down the road. I was not disappointed with the band. I am looking forward to hearing how they sound next time i get to a show.
I think the โessenceโ is Lucinda. (Of course, I’d pay full ticketbastard prices to see her even if she lost her entire band and was out there all by herself with just an acoustic guitar.) ๐
I couldn’t agree more, Ray. Well said.

personally,i see lucinda (or any other artist) tearing it up, there’s
NOTHING worse than watching everyone planted in their seats. or worse, have someone start
dancing and get shouted down. i’ve witnesses that on more than a few occasions. talk about
energy sapping.I agree 100%. Well said.

Does anyone know what Lucinda is releasing?
๐ฏ Yes, indeed – what?

She then observed too much empty space (about 10 feet) between the stage and first row of the seated audience; accordingly, Lucinda asked the audience to stand, move-up, and fill-in the empty space. Consequently, the remainder of the show had a large group standing, swaying, and dancing in front of the stage.
further evidence (proof) that lucinda likes — needs — a standing GA audience up close (as smartly observed by Lafayette in another recent thread)….
Indeed. Like paul_from_LA commented here (and I as well in the “Peekskill Sold Out” thread), the same thing happened at Veteran’s War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville last year (paul_from_LA & stoger were both there). The energy level (& fun, I might add) increased dramatically when the crowd “rushed” the stage. Having been to many of both types of shows (seated & standing), I much prefer the standing (although my feet & back don’t), as does Lu, having mentioned it herself after the aforementioned Nashville show…

and then, with little hesitation and roaring vocal support, the crowd responded to her appeal, abandoning their seats & rolling forward steadily towards her and the band, filling in the void, cheering her on.
Ah, yes. The same thing that happened last year in Nashville at Veteran’s War Memorial Auditorium. And the difference was like night and day. The energy level shot through the roof after the crowd got up & went to the stage…
Tom
tntracyParticipantThanks for the set list & reports. Sounds like another great show. This tour has been incredible. Seeing two shows was not enough! Wish I could get up to the NE for more, but the budget simply won’t allow it… ๐
