So, on Twitter, do people ever actually use complete sentences with subjects and predicates and so on? Is that acceptable?
Tsk, tsk, stoger! Your English professor stripes are showing! 😮

tntracyParticipantCool, Lisa – looks like we were born on the same day in 1959. I’d ask you what time you were born on the chance that I could make fun of you being older than me, but knowing my luck… 😆
Happy Birthday, Lisa!

tntracyParticipantAw shucks, Lefty… 😳 Thanks!
I did have a Happy one, and still am in fact (despite it being the dreaded “5-0”). First, I reconnected with an old friend (we were in the second grade together) I’d lost contact with over 10 years ago. That was cool.
And, we just got back from our favorite Mexican restaurant (and one many Atlantans consider the best) in all of the Atlanta area. It is about 30 miles from our home, but it was a nice evening, so we took my Jeep, sans top & doors, and stuck to the surface streets. It is the best time of year to drive slow enough to smell all the wild honeysuckle blooming in low spots everywhere. It was a beautiful drive downtown, dinner was fabulous, the Pacifico ice cold (only two, I was driving) and the drive back was equally nice…..until we hit the thunderstorm. Luckily, it was of the “scattered / spotty” variety, and we blew through it fairly quickly w/o getting soaked to the bone. Then it as quickly cleared up for a nice remainder of a drive home. At least, that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it… 😉
Finally, before heading out to the back deck for a final cold one (chocolate stout this time), I see this. Thank you, sir…

tntracyParticipantI had the pleasure of seeing Bo & Pieta play last year at my favorite little Atlanta (Decatur, actually) music venue, Eddie’s Attic. They were touring in support of Pieta’s new (at the time) album, Remember The Sun.

$1.99 DOWNLOAD! HELP SUPPORT ERIKA IN HER CAMPAIGN TO ACHIEVE SUPERSTARDOM AND OVERALL FABULOUSNESS!
I’ll help out your Erika cause, Lefty, with my own plug –
Now that is a bargain price for a really good album! Seriously! I have the physical CD, paid 6 times as much, and still think it was well worth what I paid for it. $1.99 to download 256 kbps MP3s of the whole album is a great deal…

tntracyParticipantSarah & I saw a great, high-energy show by Tim Easton & his band (Tim on lead, a bass player & a drummer – I don’t remember the other two guys’ names – sorry – but they were good – esp. the drummer – he kicked butt!) last night at the Earl in East Atlanta. The only disappointment of the night was the sparse crowd – only about 40 – 50 people showed up for the show. Nonetheless, we had a blast & saw some great live music up close & personal.
I snagged a setlist after the show (not much competition in getting one!) – Here it is:
The Young Girls
Broke My Heart
Burgundy Red
Baltimore
Porcupine
Southbound (this is what the set list has, and he joked around beforehand whether he should play “Southbound” or “Northbound” – he actually played “Northbound” off of the new album. I don’t know if he actually has a song called “Southbound” or not)
Stormy
Black Dog
Not Today
Dear Old Song & Dance
Weight Of Changing Everything
I Wish You Well
Next To You
In Love With You
News Blackout
Get What I Want
Just Like HomeAlso, and I don’t remember exactly where in the set, but it was one of the last 4 or 5 songs, he played a scathing (and that’s just the word that popped into my mind last night as he & the band played it) version of Lu’s song “Joy”. When he played it, I just assumed it was on the setlist but, as you can see from above, it wasn’t. Earlier in the show, I had shouted out, “Play one for Lu!” & he quickly replied, “We will”, so I don’t know if “Joy” was actually in response to my request or not, but it was an awesome, super high energy version (the drummer was particularly good here).
And, as those familiar with Tim’s releases can see, the set was almost all from his last two albums, Porcupine (his newest) and Ammunition (the album that features the duet w/ Lu, “Back To The Pain”). Early in the set (the first 7 songs he played were all off of Porcupine) he mentioned, almost (but not quite!) apologetically, that the new album was more “rock” than his first 4 were. The show sure reflected that, but the crowd, such as it was, did not seem to mind. I, for one, thought he put on an awesome “rock” show…

If you want to see Bo play these days, go see Pieta Brown (if you get a chance) – they are married and tour together…

tntracyParticipantThe only member of the band I recall seeing (at least regularly) in a cowboy hat is the drummer, Butch Norton.
The other guitar player (other than Eric Schermerhorn, that is, who replaced Doug Pettibone) is Chet Lyster. Maybe he wears a cowboy hat on occasion & I haven’t been there, or I’ve forgotten…

Allman Bros./ Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival (1970)…Dire Straits Live “Alchemy” (“Telegraph Road”)…Lynard Skynard Live “One More for The Road” (double vinyl record) (I may have the title wrong–it came out around 1977)…
Ah, the Allman Brothers Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival – lesser known than Fillmore East, but every bit as good, IMHO. And the “Introduction” is not to be missed w/ the dude talking about human sperm spinning the egg with their tails in a “primordial dance” – so very 60’s!
And, you are close on the Lynyrd Skynyrd live album title – it was One More From The Road – excellent live Skynyrd, indeed. That live set has an Atlanta connection as well – it was recorded in 1976 in Atlanta’s “Fabulous” Fox Theater, a grand old movie palace built in the late 1920’s, originally as the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque.
As for my inclusion in this list (other than many others already mentioned), one of my favorite live album’s in Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged In New York. Even if you are not a fan of Nirvana’s & you haven’t heard this album, you really need to give it a listen. Recorded less than 6 months before Kurt Cobain committed suicide, the album, as it’s Wikipedia entry states, “was hailed by critics as proof the band was able to transcend the grunge sound they were commonly associated with.” The set includes some incredible covers, including David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World”, Lead Belly’s “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”, the Vaselines’ “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me for a Sunbeam”, and three Meat Puppets covers, including the incredible “Lake of Fire”. This is a fantastic, haunting & emotional performance – and the DVD is even better.

OK, you two, what does this tweeter/twitter link say?! It pops up on my screen for about a second, then vanishes. Is Erika expecting me to drop everything and sail to Europe to see her?! 😕
I honestly have no idea, Lefty – I really did not click on it.
But, somehow, I just knew you would not be able to resist! 😆
