I liked Wednesday’s show better, but that does not take away from Thursday’s performance. I thought the Essence portion of the show was great. Just too many guests in the 2nd set. I’d like to hear more Lucinda. Really looking forward to tonight. I think it could be a late night tonight. From what I’ve heard Jim Lauderdale & Steve Earle will be there. They both played & worked on “Car Wheels”. I was a bit disappointed on Thursday that Jim wasn’t featured more. He sang backing vocals off & on, but did no songs of his own. He’s been a real good singer & songwriter for years. Can’t wait for tonight!

I’m sorry Lefty, Chet did play with the band again last night. He helps fill out the sound. I thought that he played more keyboard than he did the previous night. I think he’s a valuable addition.

Ray, it sounded to me as if all the between songs goings on was included (Lucinda talking, Lucinda stopping “Minneapolis” because of playing a wrong chord, etc). The only thing that was excised that I can tell is when she went into “Words Fell”. She played it for about a minute and then abruptly stopped it. She didn’t like the sound of her guitar and there was a few minutes banter after. The false take (if you want to call it that) is not on the CD, but it picks up right where she was questioning whose fault the sound was. So you do hear a minute or so of her talking, but if you weren’t at the show you wouldn’t know that she had played the song for a verse or so and then stopped it. I would say that they stuck pretty much to the structure of the album versions. It was a little different with two guitars behind her, but I think it really was an improvement. “Words Fell” was done solo with just her acoustic. “Overtime” had Doug playing his parts and the new guy playing a lap steel over it.
I think that Lucinda and the band will be just as charged up for the NYC shows. The CD comes in a nice sleeve with pics & credits on it.

Thanks Paul for the guitarists name. I thought he did a great job last night. Can’t wait for tonight; Essence should be fantastic!
The CD’s were $20, and were available just before the second set started. They were doing the work right at the booth during the intermission.

The way it stands right now, the CD is only available at the venues themselves. Maybe this will change in the future if there are enough people who request them.

Thought the show was great last night. Lucinda and the band came on at 9:15 and discounting the 20 minute intermission, they didn’t leave until 12:15. The band was augmented with another guitarist; His name was Curt; it sounded like his last name was Messer or something like it. He had played with The Eels before; which is the band Butch Norton was in. He really helped fill out the sound. He played alot of electric ( acoustic on “Words”), lap steel on a few (in addition to Doug’s playing on three songs), and a few songs on keyboard. He held down the fort when Doug was playing his solos but also took alot of well done solos himself. It sounded like he’ll be with them at least thru the LA shows.
They did the 13 songs of “World Without Tears”, which took 80 minutes, then took a short break and came back with “Rescue”. I don’t have a setlist but will mention songs that I can remember. :Words, Fancy Funeral, Jailhouse Tears, Come On, Pineola, Still I Long For Your Kiss, Honey Bee, Unsuffer Me, I Live My Life, Get Right With God. The band was really cooking, and Lu was in great voice. I’ve got the CD from the first set but haven’t listened to it yet.
The performance was also filmed by Gravel Roads Production for what Lucinda said was, “A low-key documentary”. That has me excited because I thought it was a special show. Hopefully Inside Job can get back to us and tell us when and where this will be made available.

You might be able to try NPR’s site to see if that will work. No, I don’t have tickets to NYC, but I’m heading to LA for the shows out there. Really excited about them.

Your welcome, Lefty. Are you going to any of the NYC shows?

I agree with jackstraw. It’ll be interesting to read Flappy’s notes, and what is going on during the tour. Lucinda has an outstanding crew with her.

That’s your stupid opinion. Why don’t you go back into your cocoon or wherever you’ve been for six months and stay there this time!

Inside Job, I’ll be there in LA for all five shows and I’ll be purchasing the live Cd’s from each show. Let Lucinda know that it was a great idea.

Doug can play left handed better than Stills can play right handed. No one said he was one of the greatest of all time. Pay attention!

There is NO WAY that Stephen Stills should be on any list ahead of Doug Pettibone! That’s ridiculous!
