TimParticipant
I think the modifications in the setlists are done by “Flappy”, Lucinda’s Production Manager. He’s a jack of all trades!
TimParticipantI’ll second that opinion 100%, jackstraw!

TimParticipantScone, I have to second your opinion on the show. You had to be there. Emmylou came in with her daughters a little before the 1st set began. They were at a table in the balcony right at the railing. She obviously was enjoying the first set, and of course it was great to see her get onstage and do “Greenville” & “Jackson” with Lucinda. One of my favorites of the night was Jim Lauderdale’s “The King Of Broken Hearts” with Emmylou singing harmony with Jim.
TimParticipantHi jackstraw. It was done the way they’ve been doing it on the tour this year. Slower and more bluesy. It really was a great night.
TimParticipantI like “Honey Bee” very much in concert. Everyone seems to have alot of fun playing it. I don’t know if that feeling will carry over on a studio record. I have a feeling that the (so-called) critics will have a field day going after it.
TimParticipantThis is great news for the loyal Lucinda fans everywhere. I may go bankrupt after this week (flying across the country, seeing all the shows, buying the live CD’s, etc.) but I’m having a great time. It’s been exciting and Lucinda seems very happy. Thanks, IJ for the info & these great events.
TimParticipantPaul, thanks for the 2nd setlist. I also made a mistake; Allison Moorer sang on “Greenville”, not “Still I Long”. Lefty, I hope that you’re right about the CD’s.
TimParticipantThe CD’s are being sold for $20.
TimParticipantSorry, I forgot to mention Chet Lyster who again played very well (Electric guitar, keys, pedal steel).
TimParticipantI talked with one of the cameramen last night who said that all of the filming is going to be Lucinda’s after it is done. She will have all the footage and it will be up to her as to what will be done with it. They also had five cameramen last night instead of three. Hopefully she will not sit on it too long and get something out there where people can see it. With two nights left I think they already have enough great footage.
TimParticipantIncredible show last night; one of the best I’ve ever seen. Jim Lauderdale & Steve Earle on stage for most of “Car Wheels” set. MIke Campbell played guitar on “Greenville” & “Joy”. Doug Pettibone & Mike turning “Joy” into a guitar orgy. Allison Moorer (Steve’s wife) sang with Lucinda on “Still I Long”. Crowd ecstatic all night long. Opened 2nd set with “Where Is My Love’ & “Fruits Of My Labor”. Can’t recall all the songs but the 2nd set can’t be described properly it was so good. Mike Campbell stayed out there for about the last six songs. Doug, Butch & David Sutton all had tremedous nights. Songs I can remember: Righteously, Come On, Honey Bee, Jailhouse Tears (Great duet with Steve Earle), Mama, Don’t Let Your Babies, Unsuffer Me, Wrap My Head Around That, Change The Locks, maybe more. I’ll be surprised if the roof is still on The El Rey when I get there tonight.
Lu said that Emmylou Harris will be at one of the shows. Could be tonight since she’s doing the Sweet Old World album. Emmylou covered “Sweet Old World”; and I also expect her to do “Greenville” again since Emmylou sang on the record. Marvin Etzioni also played with the band alot in the 2nd set (Mandolin, tambourine, maraccas). He was with the band Lone Justice and a LA fixture.TimParticipantI don’t think it was a mic problem. I just felt that he held back out of respect for Lucinda; & didn’t want to overpower her. But let’s hope that Lu or someone is going to tell him it’s alright to let it go.
TimParticipantThats okay, Stella, I probably wouldn’t have made it either. It’ll be good to see him up on stage and hear him tonight. He toured with Lucinda pretty much all the way thru her Car Wheels tour in ’98-’99. He certainly knows the songs; let’s hope that he is featured more tonight.
TimParticipantI may be wrong but I doubt very much that Gurf would ever want to get on stage with Lucinda again. We’ll see though.
