TimParticipant
Sorry, I got the day wrong. Tickets go on sale on FRIDAY September 12.
TimParticipantThank you for the links to Charlie & Carrie, Lefty. I heard a 45 minute interview with Carrie this weekend on the radio. She’s certainly having a great time working on the road. She’s pretty much been touring steady the last two years and I can tell you that it has paid off. She’s also playing fiddle in Alejandro Escovedo’s band when she can.
She mentioned working with Lucinda Williams earlier this year. She flew out to LA to have Lucinda sing on one of her songs. When Carrie got out there Lucinda said, “Oh, you have to have The Mama’s on this song, too”. The Mama’s are what she calls her backup singers. (Gia Ciambotti, Susan Marshall & Kristin Mooney). Carrie said that she also got to play fiddle on one of Lu’s new songs. She said that she hadn’t heard the whole record, but from what she heard, she thinks it’ll be a great one.TimParticipantTicketmaster has tickets for both shows going on sale on Saturday 9/12 at 10:00 CDT. October 23 show has a show time of 6:00, which sounds unusual.
TimParticipantvinylfan, I just checked First Ave’s website. There are two Lucinda Williams shows listed. One on October 23, and the other on November 5.
TimParticipantDavidinmaine your posts are very good. Thanks for your honesty. Unfortunately that is something that TOverby cannot display. He is a revisionist who will come out here and go after anyone who has the slightest bit of negativity towards Lucinda. It is ridiculous. He acts like Lucinda Williams did not exist until he met her. Anything that happened before that time, he tries to banish. (And most of it was very, very good.) There are other music discussion forums out there, and they are more balanced than this one. Many, many people on these have the same opinions that David has eloquently expressed; and they also have been long time fans. What has hurt Lucinda very much is that she has someone,(TOverby), that tells her everyting is great, awesome, unbelievable, incredible, etc. when it clearly is not. What she does not need is these yes men around her. So when the whole picture is looked at, you can understand TOverby’s opinions. It’s tough to bite the hand that’s feeding you.
TimParticipantIf it doesn’t get released to the public, I would still pay to get my hands on material from the El Rey shows. If something was put together and deemed not worthy to release, I would still want it. It’s too bad that it’s taken so long. I think the more time passes some of the public will not be interested in it. Been there, done that kind of thing.
TimParticipantThanks for the update. I wish that it all would be released. I agree with Tony. Put it out there and I will buy it!
TimParticipantSpeaking of live DVD’s, has anyone heard any info on the footage that was shot last Sept/Oct in LA & NYC? I thought that by now something would have become available. Besides a few good DVD’s, I thought that maybe it could be a PBS special.
TimParticipantI would say yes.
TimParticipantThank you Lefty for that article and video. I’m really digging Carrie’s new album.
TimParticipantYou’re welcome, Parker. I thought I read something about the site being updated and redesigned a while back. Hasn’t happened yet.
TimParticipantAt High Road Touring. They’re the company that run Lucinda’s tours. Frank Riley has told me that they ususally post a show as soon as it’s booked.
TimParticipantA new Lucinda Williams show has been added:
Tuesday, October 21 in Des Moines, Iowa. The show will be at The Hoyt Sherman Theatre.TimParticipantClintonct; tickets have been on sale for about a week now to members. Like Lefty said, it is a beautiful venue with great sightlines. It only holds 982 people so I don’t know how many seats will be left for the public. I don’t really think that that amount of time is fair to non-members. If you want to, you can become a member right over the phone, and purchase tickets now. Last year it was $35, this year it is $45.
TimParticipantThanks for the link, Lefty. I remember someone saying last year that they thought it might happen. I always thought the rhythm section was strong.
