Thank you for posting this video link, LWJ. Having grown up near Macon, it was magical to hear Lucinda share her recollections of her time in these parts. I’ll always treasure this particular show for that reason alone, but she was on fire that night anyway. As Stoger said, “one for the ages.” Indeed!
su_garParticipantAs for “central Georgia” venues, how about Lucinda herself on the grounds of Andalusia, Flannery O’Connor’s former home in Milledgeville? In light of Lu having mentioned “chasing peacocks” round that farmhouse as a child, I say bring her back lo these decades later for an Andalusia fundraiser!
Don’t tease me, Stoger! That would be too good to be true. I know that the current director at Andalusia is a musician himself, so he could possibly go for something like that…. We can daydream, can’t we?
su_garParticipantI keep checking YouTube, but so far no uploads from the Macon show. What I wouldn’t give to relive a few choice moments! “Not My Cross to Bear” comes to mind, but really this was one of the best Lucinda shows I’ve ever seen, so to hit “replay” on any of it would be a treat.
I’ll also be keeping an eye out for more shows at the Cox Capitol. It’s an incredible and intimate venue, a welcome addition to central Georgia. Thanks for playing here, Lucinda!

It does indicate that the show is a benefit for the restoration of Capricorn Studios, so I reckon the higher than normal pricing is for a good cause!
Tom
That’s optimistic of you. My invoice includes a “Restoration Fee” of 50 cents per ticket, so I don’t think that explains the high ticket prices. There were still a few table and cocktail seats left when I found out the presale had started, but alas, the front of the balcony, at $50 a pop, was the best I could afford. It looks like a small theatre, so I’m guessing they’re all decent seats.

We will definitely give you a heads up -both in here and on her Facebook fanpage. I inquired today about why tickets were not on sale yet and did not get an answer back but expect one tomorrow.
Ummm…just saw on Facebook that the Macon presale started a few hours ago. The site to order is https://www.vendini.com/ticket-software.html?e=0258f61c1ba5c9a7825a3590d72c2588&t=tix. The presale code is “Blessed”, but I didn’t need it to order mine. Good luck! See y’all at the show.

I see from the home page that tickets are now on sale for the Macon Ga show, however, when I go to the site I can’t see where to purchase tickets. Help !
I’ve had the same concern, dariusjag. It’s like the bad dream where you show up completely unprepared for an exam: I have this nagging worry that by the time I find out Macon tickets are on sale, the best seats will be gone! Here’s hoping Tom O. gives us a heads up (and I’m sure he will…).
su_garParticipantOh, goody! 😀
I’ve just realized that I haven’t seen Lu since the Little Honey tour, so it’s been a while. This will be the first time I’ve seen her without Doug since….2000? 2001? It will be a new adventure, to be sure. I’m so glad to read the reports that Blake has come on strong.
su_garParticipantDoug played a couple of shows with Lu this past fall (Bridge School Benefit, Mountain Winery, etc.), and with the whole band, including Val, on NYE at the Viper Room, so he’s around.
I’m really looking forward to hearing the new guitarist in Atlanta next week. Every axe man has something new to bring to the table.
su_garParticipantOh my goodness, has anyone else seen the terrible news about what happened at last night’s (Thursday’s) Mountain Winery Show featuring The Swell Season? Apparently a man jumped onto the stage to his death.

How sad that he was so troubled….how upsetting that must have been for the band and everyone there.
su_garParticipantThanks for the “rest of the story” about those songs, LWjetta. That’s heartbreaking about the Buffalo Nickel singer. I really dig her song on a lot of levels, and not just for the Lu reference (although the title is what led me to listen in the first place). It seems to be a fairly realistic depiction of someone with depression or mental illness. It’s no surprise that all the songs titled “Lucinda Williams” would be excellent, each in its own way.
Also thanks for the how-to about posting links, but I misspoke. It wasn’t the “how” part I had trouble with; it was that I simply didn’t have a handy link for listening to either song online, and I wasn’t resourceful enough (or motivated enough) to track them down, as you did. 8)
su_garParticipantLucinda must inspire a lot of other musicians, as there are also songs titled “Lucinda Williams” by both Robert Bobby and a band called Buffalo Nickel.
I don’t know how to post links to the songs, but I believe I found them both on iTunes a couple of years ago.
(It’s also worth mentioning that Doug Pettibone played on Vic Chesnutt’s 2003 album, Silver Lake, which was produced by Mark Howard, who also produced World Without Tears).
