stogerParticipant
Well procured, doc. May or may not see you there, but you guys deserve some Lucinda, after all the deferment.
stogerParticipantMay stateside-based global travelers have a look too, Keymaster?
stogerParticipantWhoo wee, for a non-Canadian you sure nailed it, seangod. Probably couldn’t get the chair through customs, good milestone though, as you say. I believe Lu was slated to deliver Rockin’ in the Free World recently at a Neil tribute in Nashville, though her appearance didn’t come off. Anyway, may the middle and western provinces come through with setlists soon.
stogerParticipantYes, thanks all. Maybe some friends north of the border will weigh in on one or more of the next three. Final thought on the Bonnie tour, which I failed to include: Lu used the phrase “on hiatus from the guitar” to describe herself, so perhaps one day in the not too distant future we will see no fewer than four guitarists on one half of the stage: in alphabetical order, Mathis Oblon Pettibone & Williams!
stogerParticipantRed ink, bold, curlicues, the whole shooting match.
stogerParticipant1 Steal Your Love
2 New York Comeback
3 West Memphis
4 Fruits of my Labor [for the first time in my hearing, Lu references Tony Joe White as an influence on this one: when the crowd stays mute, she says, “you know, ‘poke salad annie'”]
5 Are You Down
6 Stolen Moments
7 You Can’t Rule Me
8 Joy [with DP]
9 Righteously [with DP]
10 Honeybee [with DP]Oh yeah, guess i better comment on song two. A wistful new one, the lyrics reflecting on the mood at the end of a show for fan and artist alike, or indeed a return to stage at any time. There’s a baseball analogy near the end of the tune too. Overby co-write.
Sweet.
stogerParticipant[Lucinda walks on, with Travis’ help, sporting a “You Can’t Rule Me” t-shirt]
1 Steal Your Love [after, Bonnie is pronounced a “sweetheart”–later reciprocated upon Bonnie’s walk-on by calling Lu “badass”]
2 Car Wheels
3 Lake Charles [the long intro includes the name “Flannery O’Connor”]
4 Big Black Train [Lu starts to introduce the guys here, but gets distracted by Travis bringing the big Lyric Book into play in front of her and by telling the Stroke story; also, she changes the lyric “Special Rider” to “Easy Rider”, only proving that DENNIS HOPPER LIVES]
5 Are You Down
6 Stolen Moments
7 You Can’t Rule Me
8 Joy [intros finally made, including Doug Pettibone, who has just walked on stage and plays on final three songs]
9 Righteously
10 HoneybeeGood to see former monitors guy Mischa in the audience near me!
stogerParticipantAw shucks, Tony, you flatter me overmuch. Still, we appreciate the detail Seangod. Lu will be back in New England late summer, so I expect to see you. Matter of fact, you should consider hopping the Amtrak to the Beacon Manhattan. . .
Now if only our Modera–er–I mean, our Keymaster, could convert white ink into red, as he no doubt does water into wine on a regular basis.
stogerParticipantWho needs a moderator when we have a Keymaster?
stogerParticipantThanks for the two VA setlists, Tony.
stogerParticipantThat one may be a “tour debut” (red letters really needed here), Tony. And thanks for the bv info on “People Talkin.”
stogerParticipantThanks for post. Doesn’t Doug have a sister-in-law in the Atlanta area? Hope he belted out those background lyrics on tune three. . .
stogerParticipantMr. KEYMASTER, could you find out whether Doug, David, or both sang background on “People Talkin” with the vocal inflections “I don’t want to let you go” & “gossip and wagging tongues?”
stogerParticipantMr. Moderator, my hero.
stogerParticipantNice catchy, Tony: I wonder if Doug was there in Knox, as two songs from the new album are here, unlike Doug’s [re]debut where there was no new material. Anyway, if you can track down that Little Rock setlist retrospectively, you’ll prove my hero.
