this just proves what I have suspected for weeks: TM John Callaci has quite the nose for merde.

thanks, lafayette; just yesterday I was listening to the Schramms’ cover of “Side of the Road,” and it’s moving, with quite a finale guitar break. Still, wish I had been in Vermont to hear its most recent live manifestation with Stu and Lu.

A review from Lowell.
First off one of the many excellent photos.
Secondly, a quote from Lefty recently as written by Dave Barry.
“We journalists make it a point to know very little about an extremely wide variety of topics; this is how we stay objective.” – – Dave BarryQuotes from the review follow.
Each member of the band got a chance to solo and all but David provided backing
vocals, but this show was all Lucinda. She told us she’s releasing a new album later this year, and played a couple of songs from it. One is titled ‘Copenhagen’ and it’s beautiful. It’s about being in Copenhagen when she got news that a friend had died suddenly, and the feelings she had being so far from home.
I did not know that her father is the poet Miller Williams. Lucinda related a story that she has been trying to set one of her father’s poems to music for many years, despite his feeling that poems and poems, songs are songs, and they are mutually exclusive. Lucinda was finally able to accomplish her goal, and the song is lovely – and it is a
song, Lu!Here’s the full article.

You’ll forgive me if I don’t click on the full review lwj, as big suze’s two mistakes here are enough to warn me off. David sings much more background always than Stuart or Butch, and we all know which [past] record “Copenhagen” appeared on. But thanks for the research.

I know; that was a dig at this bogus Norwegian unauthorized release. Hope you and Rosemary Carroll are all over that. . .

Understandable. Any reports from last night’s show, anyone?
stogerParticipantOne might well say “metaStogeresque”–I’m especially weak on the fashion reports. Well done, Vm! And that “little kiss” during Honeybee sounds way too subdued and platonic for the actual lyrics and melody of the song, but good observations. I hope you haven’t ruled out a trans-Vermont trek for Saturday night. And lefty, Rochester??????

Any FF’ers (that looks kinda obscene typed like that) going to the Lebanon show tonight? Anyone convening pre-show for drinks and revelry? Vivian
Only vicariously, my friend [you have my number for any “on-the-ground” texting you might wish to employ].
stogerParticipantAs herbsworld can attest, there are no beverages for sale in the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center: I didn’t have time to note any, at least. Thanks for the background on the venue, and yes, Westbury was much better.

Yep that was me on the platform. I was either on my phone or stuffing my face with empanadas.
I missed the whole opening act. A guy I met at the bar said they won’t go on until 8:20 so I went in late. I was shocked when I was told they were done.
Oh well, still had a blast. The crowd seemed a little dead. I need to see her in New Orleans or in some divey honky tonk down south.
Plenty of places down there, from TN thru MS to LA. Go drag this time; y’all come.
stogerParticipantThanks you two:visions’ amendment of Nick’s setlist is spot-on. I suspected that was Nick on the train platform (bearded; longish hair), but he/you had the head down the whole time into a hand-held device, so I didn’t approach. Typing in the setlist, perhaps?
Yes, it was a rough start. Lu went on between 8:40 and 8:45, absurdly early for a show with opener which was billed as 8:00. When I walked in circa 7:55, I had obviously missed my favorite KBB song, “Texas by Tonight.” They were on either their second or third song, and Kenneth made reference to a “shortened” set. Odd, as I asked the house manager about curfews; he objected to the term, and said “some artists have played until 11:30, whenever.”
Lu made a point of her “professional[ism]” at getting on stage on time, in the context of some apparent monitor woes at start. She pronounced herself “embarrassed and self-conscious” around song three. Yes, “Little Rock Star” and “Atonement” were the “extra” songs, Lu unleashing the f-bomb about herself as she launched into the latter–but she was pretty much smiling by that late point.
The train schedule to Westhampton Beach is lousy, so I’ll be late tonight but will try to report. Let’s only hope she goes on closer to 9:40 than 8:40.

Can anyone give me a rough idea on how long the shows last? I’m debating on whether to drive or take the train. The last train home is 11:55 and I don’t want to be stranded. Thanks.
I plan to be on that train,NIck. Generally, Lu has been finishing at 11 or a little longer.
