Thank you so much, WW for posting this. And the the thoughtful review. Will be listening this morning as I get into the day.

We are so excited to see Lu and crew this Friday at the pier. I don’t post much, but do read and listen to the links, etc. thanks to all for sharing. Diane and I are especially stoked to meet and greet our new “friends” we met up at the desert last fall – Tony, Grumpy M, Stoger (rhymes with Roger), and hope to see David and even Tom. I have more wine if you liked it. Next day will be our 17 anniversary, so nice trip north, and Sunday we have a winery gig in Paso Robles and so will be playing our spirited take on “Stowaway”.

Now I’m a hook this thing up to the stereo and treat my ears..

I’m afraid my rhyming persona will not be in LA after all, jstreet–though I did plan to earlier. If you get to St. Louis or Nashville or a few others in November, let’s get together. Meanwhile, enjoy the Pier show–and give us your thoughts here afterwards.

    How was Zoe, Professor?

Mighty fine: thanks for asking. A new bass player, Chicagoan, long in a line of. . . It seems Zoe and her husband/drummer Greg gave up their Austin digs and now live in the back of their van. They fly the band guys in for gigs and splurge for a hotel then. Zoe made a reference between songs to driving the Natchez Trace “Larry Brown style,” but we won’t inform the good folks of MADD (see Jean Cash’s bio of Brown). Anyway, she did four from the new one, including “Mama Needs a Margarita” and the one with the great line about “the pay phone blues.” Sound problems made them late to start, and the guy in charge put up the “1 more” finger a bit prematurely I felt, but she still got in 7 or 8. They had a house concert in St. Louis then back to the van. The UK tour is soon, so let’s hope all passports are in order. Zoe sold no more than one or two CD’s, but she had an appreciative built-in audience in the context of Americana fest.

Thursday is a tough night. Still have not decided, them or City Winery.

How’d you make out, whiskeyboy? Realizing sets are 45 minutes tops, I managed to see “full” sets of Anne McCue, Zoe Muth, and Luther Dickinson (with Sharde Thomas). Also, partially: Will Kimbrough & Jody Stephens doing Chilton covers; Leo “Bud” Welch; Carlene Carter; Joe Henry; Robyn HItchcock w/ Grant Lee Phillips. Not bad for not even going to the “prime” showcase Location, the building housing Cannery/Mercy/High Watt, three in one. Also saw monitors guy Corey, perhaps scouting out the venue for future Lu shows?

Andy has had a tough time since his injury lay off, hopefully it will improve for him from here on in.

As for his view on our Independence vote, nowadays he tends not to get involved in those matters
after making his feelings clear on how he hoped england would do before the 2010 World Cup and
facing the backlash, he has recovered that by winning wimbledon since, and realises the benefit
to Brand Murray by keeping neutral (at least in public) on these matters.

Will we see you during the Europe tour next year ?

thanks for the scoop, dr: tennis is my sport. It’s doubtful I’ll make Europe unless it’s the summer, though spring break ’15 could be a winner. . . .

Thank you very much TomO, I was hoping for such news….

Correct result in our Independence vote tomorrow will make it a
    really memorable week.

But how does the famous Scotsman Andy Murray feel about this issue, dr.? . . .

i heard grammar police state is lovely this time of the year.

BTW, what an unwelcoming statement. im a proofreader, i earn money that way, and i just noted a very silly apostrophe missing. no big deal. maybe i shouldnt have said anything because the liner notes are OBVIOUSLY printed and ready to go (and maybe theyre perfect, after all), but those things should be noted so they can be corrected later on. reprints, reissues, resomething. its minimal but its there. publishing houses work that way, and theyre doing fine.

Nice illustration of what you mean by your own omission of five apostrophes in your latest, punchdrunk!

Apparently its become a Grammar Police State. I can assure you that we went over the lyrics and credits with a fine tooth comb and I am confident that we caught the errors that have been mentioned above.
Hopefully we can all breathe a little easier.

The time of the show is still being decided. Elizabeth Cook is opening and my best guesstimate is that she will start at 7.
If anyone here in the forum is traveling in and would like to come to the show -please reach out to me separately.
A couple of other things -Lu will also be doing one song as part of a gospel show that is being taped for PBS -it is at a church that I don’t have the name of right at hand.

Also -it is 99% done that Lu will be doing 3 shows at the City WInery the three days prior to Thanksgiving -11/24,25 & 26.

There are a lot of shows that will be announced in the next week–will try and post a the routing as it sits right now in the shows thread asap.

Thanks for all this and more, Tom.

I believe the Lucinda show at City Winery is distinct from the morning Gospel brunch. Looking at those times, it’s hard to think Lucinda would answer that a.m. bell. Thanks to Tom for clarifying the date and venue; he might know the exact hour of the evening too, for those with questions.
