Here’s a little item in the different {Auld Lang Syne} strokes for different folks dept:

“Back in Opryland, [John] Prine blew past midnight, forgetting to stop and do the countdown. [Kacy] Musgraves appeared near the end of ‘Hello in There,’ tapping Prine on the shoulder and reminding him of his omission. Prine finished the tune while Musgraves awkwardly walked around the stage, and then he led the crowd in singing ‘Happy New Year to You’ in the tune of ‘Happy Birthday’ as balloons dropped.”

Well done, Paul. Actually, the “pause” was more long than short, almost 5 minutes, as the staff handed out champagne to patrons and Butch served as ad hoc MC. There was a projected clock and “countdown” over curtain back of stage. Basically, Lucinda stalled before starting the Wilson Pickett cover pretty much right at midnight–not without mentioning our president elect and uttering the phrase “Shit Happens.” There was also a break between song 17 and the four encore tunes.

After song two, Lu called it “one of those early, innocent songs.”

Before song seven, she surveyed some of the mishaps of the previous nights, but with a good spirit.

Some idiot’s party whistle drowned out her intro to “Protection,” which I think was a feeble joke about the title word not meaning condoms.

“Unsuffer Me” she called her “theme song,” going on to thank all for coming out tonight like the airlines thank folks for choosing them, considering Patti Smith and others were in town. She also apologized for trying a couple of “bad jokes” tonight.

    Thanks to everyone.

The Charles Lloyd show in Santa Barbara is Monday, November 28, not Monday as that FB post suggests.

So you can still get on a Pacific Surfliner and make it up, Tony.

    Great report Mr. S.!

Night two was just as superb, churchly again, tour-closer in a house that Lu frequented a few months back.

Santa Barbara on this coming Monday would be worth the trip for those in the area…

    Per FB-
“Lucinda will be joining Charles and Bill Frisell and Greg Leisz and his band the Marvels this Sunday at the wonderful Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara this Monday evening.”

Amazing night when they all played together this year at Royce Hall. Sure this will be as well..

What, Lu presumably “home” in CA, rather than still in TN?

The Lobero will be seeing quite a bit of Lu action in the near future.

I just saw a Mar 4, 2017 date pop up on Facebook, for Ponte Vedre, FL, which is on the heels of the Outlaw Country cruise, but I’m wondering if that bodes well for additional Southeast dates this spring? (I’m planning on Ponte Vedre in part to support that area of the country in the aftermath of Matthew and hopefully to hug WestWords.) Anything on the whisper circuit? I can’t make the SPACE shows at the end of the year and am hoping to have better luck with Lu’s schedule in the spring and summer of 2017 (assuming no rest for the righteous… her touring stamina is phenomenal).

I have no further info, viv, but this is encouraging for landlubbers; I bet there might be one or two more FL dates either at front or back end of cruise, though I doubt a larger Southern run. But one can hope.

I wouldn’t mr.S. I am here to see the famous Italian pop star Zucchero who is doing a 2 week stint in Verona with a certain guitarist in his employ who is a friend of the FF. They leave for a 2 month tour of Europe after tonight’s show.

ah, I see that “executive producer” credit from a couple of years back has come home to roost. Selling swag and more, I bet you’re up to. My best to DP and the Italians. Ciao.

I can still cavort even at this advanced age. After 2 straight nights of arena shows, entirely in Italian, my mind is a mess.

Ps. I edited the main title but that won’t fix the subsequent posts.
Pps. I get back home on 9/30.

Are we to understand you are a devotee of opera now, Tony?
