Great thread, but someone (backstreets? Tony G?) needs to reinstate the Nov. 1 setlist, which I think was posted by backstreets at the time. The current one starting thread is the Oct. 31 setlist–and there were only three overlaps between those two nights.
November 14, 2020 at 2:45 am in reply to: 11/12 Southern Soul: From Memphis to Muscle Shoals & More #82021stogerParticipantAs all of you know, high tech me doesn’t miss a chance at these things. Gentry cover at moment, and I especially look forward to that William Bell tune a few songs down the line. Call me Mr. Live Stream (albeit one full night later).
stogerParticipantDon’t forget those portable heaters mid-tent Paul, what Lu called the “firepit” night one but made no comment on the next evening as she shivered her way through a windy, sub 40 degree show. I affirm your loyalty to Emmylou, but we miss you at the Lu series. Mr. and Mrs. Backstreets from Iowa were present the first weekend, “easymike” and of course “lafayette” expected on the 14th. Tony, any post-Thanksgiving plans? The Volunteer State awaits.
stogerParticipantThe guy’s nothing if not consistent, that TO.
stogerParticipantI do, Mr. Former Moderator.
With fond memories of our bookstore visit prior to a Lu show (prob a decade ago, at least), “Stoger”
stogerParticipantAh, THAT tour. You sly dog. Funny, Amy objected at first to Shannon’s choice of her own lead guitarist for the tour; some months later, Amy married the man (Will Sexton). Little tidbit there.
stogerParticipantBetter check your vowel spellings, Mr. Overby (though I answer to “stager,” “stagger,” “stagolee,” “stigger,” and more). Nary a mask in sight tony G, except for me and the musicians, their friends and such–but hey, it’s Mississippi (yet hurrah for the legislature and governor in their flag-purging). Didn’t Amy have a bit of trouble hauling that huge upright bass down from above into the McCabes performing area, at the show we saw? Still, what an Amazonian of a woman! I dimly remember a watering hole off Pico which we repaired to prior to show, in light of the frugal no booze policy of McCabes. Or do I disremember?
stogerParticipantTra la la la. And I do have a thought on the Baby Church: Tabernacle of Atlanta GA.
stogerParticipantWow, Tony G and Tom O with multiple fresh posts each: the “new normal” is looking pretty good. Thanks for the fall hopes and news of a potential January flyover. November 14, 2020 may not rise to the April 2, 2019 level, but the Mother Church is the Mother Church. Y’all could arrive via special Uber, crosstown. And maybe Tony G will make his Volunteer State debut. Alright!!!
stogerParticipantYou sly dog. As if that tune came up randomly/regionally for you from WWT. A LIKELY story. . .
stogerParticipantRight you are, Paul. I got miffed at City Winery NY putting me (moi, a Vinofile member!) in a queue, and I exited. A fellow Forum-ite who shall remain nameless waited it out and was offered seats she described with a common four-letter Anglo-Saxon scatological term. But I will try again. I didn’t know CW had moved from Varick, convenient to the Film Forum, but I aim to find it come the merry month of May.
