No, “Mr. Stoger” has no insights into the mysterious percussional world of Butch Norton.
stogerParticipantAnd many happy returns to both you and our beloved Lu, Tony.
stogerParticipantSame back at you Tony–and to others encountered live and/or on the Forum in 2021.
stogerParticipantThanks, Tony. I got wind of this through a Bay Area source a few days ago, but it’s good to see the “official” dates on this Forum.
stogerParticipantGood additions, Mike: even without band and crew, the “aftershow” was a nocturnal delight.
stogerParticipantSailors on leave, indeed. The only thing I’ll add is that Lu stood up throughout the sixteen-song set; strength and normalcy are on the rebound.
stogerParticipantI believe you are right, oh nearsighted one. Stay tuned for a possible surprise regarding post-Pioneertown show. A joint announcement from my Washingtonian sidekick and me, as it were.
stogerParticipantCheck out the Pageant: tix go on sale Friday morn the 17th.
stogerParticipantBut check out the Pageant, across town: tix go on sale Friday morn the 17th.
stogerParticipantPer High Road Touring, Houston is Jan. 26.
stogerParticipantSteamboat Springs, CO has been rescheduled for Jan. 19; so has Dallas, with a second show added (now Jan. 24 & 25). Hopefully, OK City will follow suit.
Fingers crossed on Pappy’s, Tony.
stogerParticipantYes, along with Missouri and Colorado shows. But some are postponed, others (Grand Junction; St. Louis) cancelled outright, as I understand it. How was your email worded? There’s some hope for the winter as far as rescheduling some of these, I believe.
stogerParticipantThanks for this posting, Mike: no tour debuts and only 9 songs compared to the 10 (and one time 11) songs she played earlier on this leg, but good stuff.
The poster gives HER name adequate size and space, so I won’t be surprised to hear you have sprung for one, despite the venue name.
It’s cloudy in Arkansas. . . .
stogerParticipantNight Two:
1 Something Wicked. . .
2 Bad News Blues (with the “Don’t blame me; I voted for Willie” inserted this time into the actual lyrics)
3 West Memphis
4 Lake Charles (Lu refers to her former Austin apartment with Clyde Woodward as the “Willie Hilton”)
5 You Can’t Rule Me
6 Pray the Devil Back to Hell
7 Essence (with Charlie Sexton: Lu says “this will be ‘Essence’ like you have never heard it” before, and refers to herself as a “guitar sandwich” after, between Stu and CS)
8 Jesus Just Left Chicago (with CS: dedicated after to the late Dusty Hill)
9 Joy (with CS)
10 Get Right with God (with CS)Songs 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10 were tour debuts.
Lu stood up for songs 7-10.
One more to go on this Austin run. . .
stogerParticipantGreat peacock poster: could a Flannery O’Connor reference from the stage be far behind tonight or Monday?
Backstreets, I jotted notes immediately after Lu’s set, not during. EasyMike helped me remember stuff. Some quirky things came out of her mouth this show, as you can tell. By Knuckleheads, we may have a fully in-form Lu who will deliver 20+ headlining songs!
