tntracy,
My discerning ears like “Little Honey” as well. Well well well was a classic the first time I heard it. I love The Knowing, and I’m one of the few in this forum that like Elvis with Lu on Jailhouse tears, cracks me up every time I hear it. And the list goes on.
I agree with your paragraphs above, but one thing I’ve learned is that reacting to, or responding to DIMs negative opinion of Lucindas recent material is a waste of time. Its his opinion, its the only correct opinion, and anyone with a positive opinion of her recent work is a cheerleader, who just doesnt know music. (In his mind)
Steve
stevarinoParticipantAnetomic,
How can your list not include “Rghtously” off of World with out Tears. That, in my mind is the sexiest of them all.
After the way you been kissin’ me
After those pretty things you say
And the love we made todayWhen you run your hand
All up and run it back down my leg
Get excited and bite my neck
Get me all worked up like thatArms around my waist
You get a taste of how good this can beAwesome sexy,

David in Maine is a closet cheerleader. I guess he’s outed now. Ha ha – just kidding.
I do know he’s a huge music fan, and even a big Lucinda fan. It was refreshing reading a positive note from him. He just has an opinion.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantDavid,
I was at that Kinks concert in Music Hall. I was in about the 14th row right center. Among the crowd that rushed the stage. But we eventually sent back to our seats stage left. I did get to the front against the stage to see Dave Davies play, he stooped down with his guitar at the front of the stage and I was able to touch his guitar while he was playing. Pretty heady experiance for a 16 year old. Was that really 30 years ago? You’re getting old David:)
You’ve probably seen my post elsewhere in here about seeing the Soldier Field Stones/Tosh concert of the same tour you saw at Richland.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantThanks for the post Lafayette,
I’m sure you’re disappointed at seeing John Melloncamp way down the list at number 5.
Bring Lu and B6 to Cincinnati in ’09. The Twentieth Century or Madison Theater could set up standing room only in the lower level with all, or limited seating in the upper level.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantNice response David in Maine,
When the Rust Never Sleeps / Live Rust albums came out was when I went camping and hunting with my high school budies on a southern Ohio hill called Sugarloaf Montain. Around the fire cooking, talking, singing, and maybe even drinking the words to that song got shifted a bit, hence the colored stew we used to have on Sugarloaf Mountain.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantThe Rollings Stones “Some Girls” tour in 1978 at Soldier Field in Chicago. I was 15 and my parents let me go with my friend’s older brothers – were you nuts mom and dad? Journey and Peter Tosh, among others (Asbury Jukes?) were the warm up bands. It was a hot day in August, and Mick brought out and straddled a fire hose spraying the crowd to cool them off during Jumping Jack Flash. It was a gas gas gas. It was an all day concert laced with lots of interesting smelling substances.

My wife got me this DVD for christmas and I found it in her hiding place but couldn’t wait a month to see it. So late one night I slipped it in the DVD player and watched it. What an awesome show. She looks great and I love all the old songs. I hope she doesn’t notice the wrap is removed.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantI always ask my kids if they think their favorite artists will be around as long as Neil has been around. Grammy or no, he’s argueably the most prodigious singer song writer of our times. I need to see him again before he, or I die.
Oh to live on Sugar Mountain. With the barkers and the colored stew.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantblureu,
Thanks for the PBS schedule. I watched the Norah Jones show tonight and totally enjoyed it. I wrote the Lucinda Williams January 3, 2008 show on my calandar. Cant wait.
Thanks again,
Steve
stevarinoParticipantAs an aside I received my Paste magazine last week. They chose to print the Album sales ratings from the week Little Honey was at number nine in sales. The comment in the #9 box was that it was her best album since Car Wheels, which I happen to agree with. If that makes me a “cheerleader” or “fanatic” in someones opinion, so be it. We all have opinions, and they are valid. We should probably tone down the rhetoric and insults, that’s not really why I like to come in here and read what you all write.
What do we know about the 2009 tour so far?
Steve
stevarinoParticipantDavid in Maine
Everything you type is the total opposite of what you say.
Tell us something positive about a band or some music you like.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantillbeyou,
See what I mean. David says “I am not being negative or critical” and goes on to be negative and critical. Not only of Lu, but of you and I who appreciate the music. Watch, well get a really long soliloquy about how terrible the world is and how poor our musical judgement is. Like I said its a total waste of time corresponding with them. I’m just egging them on because its almost comical. They do a good job of demonstrating themselves, and their intelligence.
Steve
stevarinoParticipanttnttracey,
You’re not piling on, just letting them know what you will put your dollars down for. I have all the albums except Ramblin, which I might have to finally buy. Also, she does so many single songs on albums, it would be great to just buy her song, rather than the whole album. I’ve recently bought the Remebering Kate Bush, and Timeless tribute to Hank Williams primarily to get the songs Lu performed although there are plenty of other good songs. There are tons of songs I’d love to buy legitamately if I could find them anywhere.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantillbeyou,
Pittbull and David in Maine are long time critics of anything new Lucinda puts out. They find negativity in very positive reviews of her performances. You’re wasting your time responding to anything about what they write. That’s where they are, let them be there.
