You got good taste Nickle, I love the slow rythmic nature of all those songs you listed
stevarinoParticipantI see people are feeding the Troll again.
I actually don’t listen to West, and World Without Tears and Little Honey Enough. I’ve stuck them in my car recently because I know how much I listened to these albums when they first came out and how good they are. Enjoying them all over again.
David in Maine – I got my tickets to Elvis Costello in Dayton this summer. Cant’ wait to see Jerry Douglass (best dobro player in the world according to Alison Krauss) and some guy a few people in here may have heard of, Jim Lauderdale play as his backup band the Sugarcanes.
What you always say in here is your opinion. Everyone has an opinion. I’ve learned to know your knowledge and taste in music is pretty similar to mine. And as much as you dis on Lucinda I know you love her music, even her recent work. You just like to get a reaction out of people.
Hope you got some good concerts lined up for the summer.

stevarinoParticipantThe Three Musketeers of Luology, tntracy, stoger, and the newest addition Lafayette.
stevarinoParticipantPit,
I bought her newest album with her standing on the hood of an old Cougar with a sword. Explain that symbology to me. Its my first album of hers. I reaaly like it and agree with your comments about her voice. I especially like the last track on the album, Marais La Nuit that’s 30 minutes long.
stevarinoParticipantLafayette,
Sounds like an awesome show at the Madison in Covington Kentucky last Wednesday. Chez Noras a great place for drinks some appetizers and walking distance from the Madison. I read yours and others description of the show and the setlist. Sounds like I missed an awesome show. Big Red Sun is number 2 on my favorite LW songs and I missed it. Damn!!! I listened to Lafayette a couple times tonight. Did she play it like her Happy Woman Blues version or more like JCMs version.
Short explanation for me missing this incredible event. The wife scheduled a vacation in the Smokey’s last week. I attempted to change it which almost resulted in a divorce. It was difficult, but I chose my marriage over the Lucinda Williams Concert. It was a hard decision.

stevarinoParticipantGrowing up in the beautiful mountains of western Virginia we used to catch June bugs, in June of course. They looked like really big Japanese Beetles. We would tie a thread around their hind leg and then have a tethered flying bug to scare off little girls, and parents. I imagine they wouldn’t do too well in a Hurricane.
stevarinoParticipantHa Ha, I was expecting this topic to be about track number 15 on Neko Case’s new album “Middle Cyclone” She has 14 songs on the CD and then fills in the entire rest of the CD (31:39) with a track titled “Marais la Nuit” which is just the recording of the sounds of a marsh at night. Lots of crickets and frogs. Great bedtime sounds to get you off to sleep.
stevarinoParticipantLafayette,
I always like reading what you write and hearing what you do locally to promote Lucinda’s appearances in Cincinnati. AKA Covington. thanks so much.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantDavid,
Jerry Douglas on dobro, of Union Station fame. “The best dobro player in the world” says Alison. Awesome, I’ll have to find a nearby show. That Lauderdale guy’s not too shabby either.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantLafayette,
Woo hoo only a month away form the Covington (aka Cincinnati South) show at the Madison.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantThe Allman Brother’s “Jessica” would be awesome to hear.
If they want to sing, since they did such a good job in Cinnamon Girl, why not try:
Neil Young’s “Cowgirl in the Sand”
Did I say that already? Sorry, two great songs
Steve
stevarinoParticipantYa know Lafayette,
I just realized this week that we had rented a chalet in the Smokey Mountians the week Lucinda is in town. I checked the place we are staying, and they have an open week two weeks later than what we currently have booked. I called them and they are OK with making the switch. Ha, ha, I’m trying to figure out how to break it to the wifey that we need to reschedule for this show. I was actually thinking about the Indianapolis show too. Its not even a two hour drive.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantYes I see that just this afternoon the Madison has posted a 4/3 date for the tickets to go on sale. I’m not planning on paying the Ticketblaster prices since I can just drive down and pick them up from the Theater, probably Saturday afternoon. If anyone wants me to pick them up a few send me a PM on how many and an address. Lafayette, we’ll have to pick a place to meet before the show. I’m partial to Dee Felice or Chez Norah’s with their rooftop river view seating which will be great in June, or maybe Mike Fink’s barge on the river. Those would be a half mile walk to the Madison Theater though. The Backstage Cafe is right next door but the food isn’t as good.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantLafayette,
Very interesting that Lucinda is appearing at the Madison Theater in Covington. A tiny little place I know well. For non Cincinnatian’s Covington is right across the river from Ohio in Kentucky, but is a great place for music and restaurants and bars. Its a beautiful old neighborhood built in the 40’s or earlier. And yes the Maddison is always general admission. The place isn’t big enough to have a bad seat. I’ve watched bands from the bar there and thought the seats were great. I hope Tom knows what he is booking. Like Lafayette said there will need to be two nights to accomodate the interested fans.

stevarinoParticipantThanks for the post Tom O.
Fires are always scary, we will be looking for the full report. I’ve been waiting to hear about the continuation of the US tour, and finally we do. And Cincinnati is on the list of cities for the first time, in my memory at least. Wooo hooo. No wait, she was here for a river festival several years ago, but it was when I was on vacation and missed it.
Hopefully the show will be at the one year old PNC pavilion. The lower seating area closest to the stage is just folding chairs linked together. I suspect it could be configured however the performer likes. I suspect it would be open down front for an admiring crowd to flock.
Lafayette – Did you have any influence on this cities selection when you went down to Georgia? Did you meet Tom and Lu as well as some of the regulars that post in here I saw you comment on? I’ll be watching closely for tickets.
tntracy – Cincy is a Delta hub, I bet you could get a cheap flight from Hotlanta here from that direction at least. Or just autothrottle up 75.
