And another off topic post about a local Cincinnati band, Over the Rhine, for next weekends show at the Aronoff I have tickets for:

stevarinoParticipantStoger,
It was an honor meeting with you before the show, for beers for me, and wine for you. I liked your strategy to stay in the bar until we saw the line starting to form in front of the bar. We were dry under the awning in line, while Lafayette got a bit rained on further up in the line. But thank you so much Lafayette for saving us a spot at the stage.
I loved the song selection, many all time favorites. I think her voice sounded great, smooth, especially after 3 continuous days of shows. I think Bus to Baton Rouge was my favorite of the night. Especially the part about the front room couches with plastic on them noone was allowed to sit on. Reminds me of my childhood.
I’ll have to find another show to go to soon, Chicago?
Steve
stevarinoParticipantI really liked Buick Six’s version of Cinnamon Girl at the Columbus show. They also did a song they called “White Kitty” which was a rockin cover of Zeppelin’s Black Dog. Am I digressing from topic?
stevarinoParticipantI’ve heard of 500 Miles to Memphis but not seen them, so I guess I will this Saturday.
stevarinoParticipantDoug left the band towards the end of the Little Honey tour as far as I can remember.
stevarinoParticipantBooker T. – Potatoe Hole
MoonalicestevarinoParticipantLots of great mentions here, I agree with and have many. Will have to check out a few recomended here. But I’m surprised Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young; 4 Way Street wasn’t mentioned yet. Recorded live at Filmore East, 1970 among other venues. Did I miss it?
stevarinoParticipantI’m so pissed I didn’t buy tickets to this show. Someone kick me.
stevarinoParticipantIt would be great to see Lafayette again, and finally meet Stoger. Plus my wife refuses to go, although I’m working on an alternative date. Did you meet at De Felice before the show last year (or maybe 2 years ago) at the Madison? Or was it Chez Nora’s. Both are excellent spots, and nearby the theatre. I would certainly be up for it.
I have a pristine Rough Trade album in vinyl I’d love her to sign the cover in big red marker. Its one of several albums framed on the wall in my entertainment room. You two might have to coach me on the proper approach for that. I certainly don’t want to carry it around the whole night.
stevarinoParticipantHey all you crazy Lucinda Williams fans,
Thanks for the great coverage of this special show. I was smiling this morning reading through this and looking at the pictures of the wedding during the show. Unfortunately I took a long weekend in Atlanta to see another artist, Robinella, at Smith’s Ole Bar in mid town. A fine establishment I suspect some on here have frequented (tntracy is guilty I bet). Oh, and your Botanical Gardens are just incredible.
Lafayette, you have become a true LW convert now. Since meeting up with you to see her Riverbend last Summer, I think your show count now exceeds mine. You will be in Bloomington Wednesday, right?
I’ll be down at the Midpoint Music Festival next weekend, where / when does Erika play? Maybe I’ll catch you down there.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantThanks Pit,
Listening to the song now and adding the movie “Eye of God” to the top of my Netflix list. Cant’ wait.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantHi Lafayette,
I’m working next to the Marriotte near Mulhauser and Union Center. If you want to do lunch some day at Mesh or someplace near there give me a buzz. I know I’ve not been on here much lately but I’m still a huge fan.
Steve
stevarinoParticipantOh no,
I fed the troll. I shouldn’t have.
stevarinoParticipantDavid, David, David,
You always put so much effort into being devisive. I was just commenting on the chain of responses to the thread you started. And since I just received the EC tics remembered you had written some insightful comments about his previous “Americana tendencies. I have row C floor seats to Neko Case playing at Ryman Theater in Nashville next month so there is some more musical taste in common.
As far as LWs works, my favorite album is her self titled one, after that probably Sweet Old World and then Car Wheels. Probably not much different than yours. I’m just not so negative about her more recent work. You seem obsessed with being negative and derogotory about anything new she puts out, although you claim it is somehow an intellectual discussion. I on the other hand just enjoy it. I put enough intellectual effort into my job, and politics. For music its simple. I buy it if I enjoy it. My degrees are technical, so I’m too simple minded to worry to much about the intellectualities of music.
Sorry,
Steve
stevarinoParticipantLefty,
Are you going to get his new $350 Blue Ray version of his Volume I Archives?
