omg, I was able to log in! it’s been a long while. Pappy & Harriet’s will be fun. I’m giving it a test run this Tuesday for Patti Smith. It will be great to see you all!
stellablueeeParticipantThank you Tony. I appreciate you helping me get my friend from CT in.
Thanks to you and Tom Overby, truly appreciate the last minute help.
xxoo muah!stellablueeeParticipantwell I don’t ever write down setlists anymore/not a good reviewer like y’all, BUT, I did this time, just for Tony.
I got home late last night & this is the first chance I’ve had to post this (I tried from my phone, twice the morning after the show, had everything typed and poof, it was gone…very frustrating)
The show was really great/high energy. Dave, Butch & Stuart seem to really be enjoying themselves… sounding tight and enthusiastic. It comes across and everyone I was around was really digging every song. My friend Lynne caught Lucinda as she arrived in a limo, was able to shake her hand and tell her how much she/we appreciate Lucinda sharing her inner soul with us all. That made her so very happy as she’s been a fan of Lu’s from the beginning……Here’s the set list:
Blessed (sure made me miss GrumpyMama)
Car Wheels on a Gravel Road
Crescent City
Drunken Angel
Something About What Happens When We Talk
Cold Day In Hell (loved this/my first live listen)
Overtime
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Everything But the Truth (another first time live for me-loved it)
Are You Down (by all accounts the mind blowing song of the night-Stuart Mathis ruled on this. Lucinda was really digging her cohorts from the side of the stage. Made us all happy! If mama ain’t happy…..)
Protection
Out of Touch
Change the Locks
Unsuffer Me
Essence
Disgusted
Get Right with God
Joy (Steve Earle really gave it up on this. Was fun watching Steve & Stuart swap guitars. Since Steve entered Slim’s by going through the massive crowd, I’m guessing both guitars were Stuart’s)
Honeybee
Hard Time Killing Floor Blues (joined by Colin Linden)stellablueeeParticipantIf you’ll be on the west coast the first week of October, you can take the kids to Golden Gate Park for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and see just about everyone! and the following week is the Way Over Yonder Festival in Santa Monica, both kid friendly and great music choices. Hope you have a great time whatever you choose.
Here was last years lineup
http://www.hardlystrictlybluegrass.com/2013/schedule/and this is for this years Way Over Yonder fest which includes Lucinda. There’s even a Ferris wheel for the kids 🙂
http://www.wayoveryonder.net/info-faq/stellablueeeParticipantI’ll be at P&H’s (and Northridge too)
I also recommend the Best Western (It’s a 6 mile drive).
It’s also next to their only all night food place (besides Sonic or Denny’s) called Santana’s (only good if you’ve had a few drinks and are desparate I’m afraid)
great deals can be found on VRBO as previously mentioned. My friends stayed in this one last week. It was cute and seemed great, and a bit cheaper (out there for a Gram Parson’s fest)
http://www.vrbo.com/441859and on another note…if anyone in Los Angeles is interested….a little museum is opening tomorrow celebrating the San Fernando Valley and there will be two Nudie mobiles there among other relics…

loved this picture/love Daa-vid
stellablueeeParticipantdeep sigh…….. knew it would be great, glad I might get another chance 😀
stellablueeeParticipantHey Tony, If you have an extra ticket for tonight, let me know.
stellablueeeParticipantTony, it’s a very lovely venue. You’ll be serenaded in the tall trees, and behind the performer they have this wall of candles, it’s incredible. I wish I could go but work says no. That is where I’d live if I found a million dollars. 🙂
