Jazz Fest in New Orleans announced their roster today. I was surprised that LW was not on the list, especially since the dates in New Braufels run right into the dates of Jazz Fest. I wonder if she will swing by Louisiana anyway?

Baton Rougesstevens75ParticipantI might have used the word “heavy” in my reference to the amount of Car Wheels tunes simply because I was ecstatic to hear some of them. I Lost It was so good…and I finally got to hear Lake Charles after all these years. She never seemed to play it at any of the previous shows that I have been to. Before playing Mama You Sweet, she announced that she was playing it by request. She relied on the lyric book quite a bit for this one, but no big deal. I also loved her story behind I Lost It. When she was living in Houston, she would drive I-10 to Louisiana a lot and there was a period of time when everyone seemed to have a bumpersticker that read, I Found It…”so I wrote this song.” 🙂

sstevens75ParticipantGreat show in a great new venue. The show was heavy on Car Wheels material! Lu mentioned that she wanted to sing all the songs that referenced Lafayette and the surrounding areas. CC Adcock opened the show with Cedric Watson and later joined the band for the last two songs. Lu seemed to really enjoy the crowd and being back in Louisiana.

sstevens75ParticipantNice setlist!
Can anyone comment on what kind of merch is being sold at the shows and what the prices are? Shirts, vinyl, posters…?? Thanks.

sstevens75ParticipantCan’t wait for this!
Also, on the JazzFest message board, someone stated that LW will be playing a night gig at Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans the same day. Can anyone confirm (or refute) this? Thanks.
sstevens75ParticipantLooks like the show tentatively scheduled for Lake Charles isn’t going to happen. That’s too bad. I was gonna try and go to that show rather than the show in New Orleans. The show in New Orleans may be tough to get to and I’m not fond of the venue (House of Blues attracts a tourist crowd). It’s the night before Mardi Gras and the French Quarter will be packed. Parking will be a nightmare. But, I haven’t seen Lu in a couple of years, so I’m gonna try and make it happen. That setting could make for a rowdy show! I live in Baton Rouge and was spoiled when she actually played at the Varsity here in town a few years back (Car Wheels and Essence tours). Those were the days.
TOverby, thanks for keeping us updated as the info becomes available. Much appreciated.
