For the gig in Chicago…is it the Riviera Theatre in Uptown? I live in Chicago, and this is the only Riviera I know of, but for some reason when I search for it, there is also one on N. Racine….a little clarification would be much appreciated…
spencecbParticipantDecent review, except makes it sound like she didn’t write “Joy,” which she did. I hate it when reporters undermine an artist in this way.
spencecbParticipantWow, exciting!!! Can’t wait to hear the studio versions of these songs we have been hearing out on the road!
Though it would have been nice to get the album in September, I’ll take it in October! Can’t wait for Lu to come to Chicago, will be an awesome show with Buick 6 opening. Can’t wait to hear their own stuff!
spencecbParticipantKind of a short night??
I saw Lu once in Cincinnati…at the Tall Stacks festival a few years ago, about a year after World Without Tears came out.
spencecbParticipantHmm, so I guess I have no takers on this. Thought I’d try anyway. Thanks for all who have read!

I seem to remember this question being asked long ago before the website changed a few years back. If I recall correctly it was the late SonO (RIP) who said that the ‘metal firecracker’ was a yellow ‘El Camino’ with red pin stripes. Lu and her beau at the time (I’m drawing a blank on that one) would cruise all over creation in it. Anybody else remember that ?
This is what I have heard before and the conclusion I made between this song and the verse from “Lake Charles” that says “We used to drive through Lafayette n’ Baton Rouge, in a yellow El Camino, listening Howlin’ Wolfe…”
spencecbParticipantOk, that is kind of what I was thinking. Thanks for the confirmation.
spencecbParticipantSo, I know Lu introduced the band, and forgive me for my ignorance, but does this band have a name? Last time I saw Lu was after West was released, and I don’t think she had a name for the band then, though a couple of the guys are still with her.
Thanks for the insight.
spencecbParticipantWas there last night. Awesome show. I think this may have been one of my favorite performances, because of the fact of the noise from the fireworks and a nearby stage, Lu decided, “Fuck this, lets rock out.” By far the most straight-through rock concert I have seen from her.
spencecbParticipantI can’t stop listening to these discs. Beautiful performances. Lucinda’s voice is just glorious. Its fun to hear her talk about the songs and let us know little insights into the songs. Some artists are afraid to do this, and Lucinda has kept quiet about them for quite some time. But it doesn’t change what they mean to me. Only difference is, now I know what they mean to her.
Awesome job, and I can’t express what this means to the fans that you listened to our requests and made these CD’s available to those that couldn’t make it to the actual shows. Thanks for listening, and thank you more for the music.
spencecbParticipantYeah, I’d like to know what is going on, too. Mine still says processing.
spencecbParticipantThanks a lot…Sweet Old World is an album that I don’t have. Now I feel silly for asking about it, lol.
spencecbParticipantI love the song “Well, Well, Well.” I just heard it for the first time on the NPR interview. Great song.
spencecbParticipantInside Job, your hard work is much appreciated. Thanks for all you have done in order to get these live discs to Lu’s fans. You have no idea (or maybe you do) of how much this means.
