Yeah, a really good show last night. She flubbed a few lines here and there, and maybe coughed a couple lyrics away (damn pollution), but I thought it was the most refreshing show I’ve seen in years–it seems like every concert I see lately feels so scripted, by-the-book, and slightly lifeless. It was great seeing a performer who had things on her mind, a microphone in front of her, and a captive audience, and the spirit to say WHATEVER popped into her head!!!
(Sorry, I’m new here, and I’m sure that I’m preaching to the choir here, but this was my first Lucinda show, been a fan for years etc etc etc, and it was so great that the whole thing was everything I’d hoped for…)
As an aside, although I do see what you mean about the fiddle in Joy, I thought that Carrie Rodriguez was fantastic, and I’m kicking myself for not waiting for an autograph! (The fiddle was riding a little too roughshod over the mix at the end because EVERYTHING was riding too high in the mix–if I’d’ve been running the show, even Ms. Williams’ mic would’ve been turned down a tad. Not that it was bad, I just like the sound to breathe a little more…)
Ahhhh, my first post. Hope I did okay…
