it was a fun night. Lucinda played about 12 songs in all which was a surprise for an instore. The Rough Trade store has a large venue at the back so there is a full set up and plenty of room with a bar. She was joined by Stuart Mathis on guitar for most of the set, playing acoustic the plugging in for the last half of the show. Lucinda seemed really relaxed in front of the appreciative crowd. was a real intimate affair. She played a mix of the new album including Compassion, West Memphis, Something wicked this way comes, east side of town, Big mess and Cold day in hell as well as classics like Pineola, Change the Locks, Joy, Drunken Angel and encored with Honey Bee (can’t remember what else) .She made a few references to getting signed to Rough Trade when no one else would and sung a couple of songs from that album.
She hung around for 90 mins to sign the album and take photo’s and chat with fans along with Tom. Jesse Malin showed up to say hi…….all in all an amazing night, and got a great photo with Lu.shootspeedParticipant$75 bucks for 70 mins……not good enough I’m afraid.
Lu and the Band sounded great BTW……. “Change the Locks” a real highlight among a very average setlist.
Whats with “Honey Bee”? So many other options why does she continue to play it?shootspeedParticipantbeen watching Lucinda for many years in NY and Europe and thought this was a weak show.
Very little energy from Lu, and vocals and guitar mix was not good.
The first 3/4 of the show just seemed like we were watching a rehearsal and just seemed too mellow.
Started the show standing at the front and by the end even I had moved to the bar at the back.shootspeedParticipantany idea if there is an opener for Fri/Sat night?
shootspeedParticipantLast night was suprisingly my fave show of the 3 and one of the one of the most enjoyable Lucinda shows in all the years I’ve been watching.
She was very relaxed and really fed off the fun the crowd was having.
What made the show for me was the absolute silence the audience gave Lucinda especially during the first set. You couldve heard a pin drop. Such a rarity in these times but all the more appreciated when it happens. She obviously noticed and was aware this was a true fanbase coming out on a Monday night. She can be proud she has such respectful fans. You guys made my night. Awesome show!
Anyone else see the trip at the end, coulda been nasty. -
