He swore it was a man’s voice, and I played him that song on Youtube and he said it wasn’t her. But sometimes memory is a weird thing. You may be right.

sfboyParticipantThanks, y’all, but I guess it’s going to remain a mystery. Maybe one day I’ll hear it in the gym, too. It wasn’t Justin or Ruthie, and it wasn’t Lu doing her own song.
sfboyParticipantHI and thanks for the suggestions. He said that it was a guy, though, singing a Lucinda song, which sounded sort of like rap or hip hop. According to him, it was definitely a male voice.
hmm….

sfboyParticipantI also love her version of Positively 4th St, and Which Will is the first Lucinda Williams song I ever heard.
Re previous posts: Satisfied Mind was done by Lindsey Buckingham on his first solo CD called Law and Order (and no, it wasn’t the soundtrack to the TV show! 🙂 )I don’t know if that’s who y’all were thinking of, but I LOVE his version.
Re: Ode to Billy Joe Love the song, and would love to hear Lu’s version. Is it out there anywhere in boot land? And if anyone is curious, I’m a huge Jill Sobule fan, and she is just finishing up a new CD that has a great song about that song, sort of, called Bobbie Gentry. She has a free download of the song on her website: http://www.jillsobule.com/showandtell.html
