Lu mentioned in Boston that the biggest drag of the darn friggin’ stroke has been re-learning the guitar again, but that it will prevail soon.

Can’t wait to see the elusive j-45 make a return… whenever Lu is ready!

I just got my tix to CT 8/25- will be sure to report back!

Thank you tonyg for getting the thread started! It was a great night to see Lu, I will try to be as thorough as our good friend Mr. Stoger.

1- Steal Your Love- Travis so graciously walks Lu out while the band starts off the song.
2- Can’t Let Go- Lu mentions her excitement to be back in “Boston and New England.” She says it has been a few years since she has been up this way and that she has missed it so- she went on to say some her favorite music comes from Boston and then got a bit side tracked and started the song. First change of the night from previous show Crescent City out CLG in.
3- Drunken Angel- Lu does the usual intro about Blaze, Ethan Hawke is mentioned, wild & wooly Blaze who liked to drink.
4- Lake Charles- the usual story about Clyde and his affinity for Lousiana.
5- Big Black Train- Lu holds up her water bottle and yells plastic kills! She then kindly asks her tech for some more water, it was a hot one! Second change of the night from last show Big Black Train replaces “Fruits.” I was hoping for Fruits of My Labor, but Lu did a really nice version of this and dedicated it to Bruce Springsteen.
6- Are You Down- w/ the extended jam
7- Stolen Moments– we need the red ink, this is a Bonnie run debut. It was great to hear live and Lu says it will be on the “new album.”
    8- You Can’t Rule Me
    9- Honey Bee
10- Righteously- Lu introduces the band and talks about the “darn friggin’ stroke,” for the first time. She thanks the band, Bonnie, and the crew for having her back. She mentions that it is the biggest drag to still be relearning the guitar but that it will prevail.

    Extra notes:
-Joy was cut for time, set was 7:30-8:30
-Lu’s voice was in fine form and seems completely unscathed from the stroke. It has been amazing to see how far she has come just from last year at this time.
-She stood for the whole set and stayed away from holding on to the chair.

Get your Lu fix while you can!

Awesome of Doug P to step in! Good to see him back, is Stu alright? He’s been out for a while.

Thank you all for the great reports! It is not the same without Mr. Stoger at all the shows!

… I will be seeing Lu live for the first time in Boston! I’d rather more Lu than Bonnie, but I’ll take the hour set for now. She will be back in New England at the End of August but it is the first week of school for me… Ugh! The cons of teaching…

Stolen Moments is a Lu original. She wrote the song about Tom and put it on the Tom Petty tribute jukebox to dedicate it to Tom and his wife Dana. Perhaps a new version will end up on the next album?

I could not figure out how to post the link but you can stream the show via Mandolin.com where Lu did the Jukebox shows.

Someone posted a picture of the 2/26 Essence 20th anniversary show setlist which was as follows, they mentioned Lu told stories in between the songs like she did on the “Car Wheels 20th anniversary,” tour:

    Steal Your Love
    Reason to Cry
    Blue
    Lonely Girls
    Are You Down
    Bus to Baton Rouge
    I Envy the Wind
    Broken Butterflies
    Out of Touch
    Essence
    Get Right With God

    Encore:
    Faith and Grace
    Jesus Just Left Chicago

*Interesting she did not stick to the original track listing of the album like she has done in the past for full album shows. Hopefully someone can report back on the pool deck and guitar pull set lists! I hope everyone is having fun!
