ScottParticipant
The show on Sunday was really special. My little girl and I were in the front row, so close we could hear Bo’s guitar switches. It was basically a small lecture hall so it lacked a bit of ambiance but those two transformed the place. I would say maybe half the crowd was familiar with her stuff but afterward, all were fans. She has such a sweet stage presence and her singing and song craft are just getting better. Bo was just incredible. Not an unnecessary note. Unbelievable tone. Little one got an autograph, t-shirt and a pic with Pieta. Don’t think she’ll forget this one anytime soon.
ScottParticipantTaking my little 8 yr old girl to see Pieta and Bo doing an afternoon show at a nature center outside of Rockford Illinois this Sunday. It should really be cool.
ScottParticipantI caught Carrie last night at the Redstone Room in Davenport Ia. I was initially a little bummed when she told us her drummer had to leave the tour. But the trio adjusted well by inserting a heavy dose of “roots appeal” that gave the songs a different sheen. Her singing was stronger than her appearance on ACL and her string work was stellar. She played one song solo on this (4) string acoustic that was one of several highlights of the night. Another was when she was joined on stage for an encore by the leader of the superb opening act “Romantica” for an absolutely beautiful rendition of “Danny Boy”. Great great show, my brother who didn’t know what to expect was blown away. Scott
ScottParticipantMy wife and I caught Pieta and Bo last Friday night in Davenport Iowa. The show was “fantabulous”! Pieta is a good singer with a unique delivery. Her songwriting seems to be improving with every record. Her new album is very good. But it was Bo Ramsey who blew me away. Not an unnecessary note the whole night. It was a clinic on guitar tone and ambiance. I remember him taking some heat on the old Lu site for being a run of the mill guitar player ( the guy must’ve bee a Morlix groupie). The guy couldn’t have been more wrong. This guy is a master. I was never sure who (Ramsey or Sexton) played what on Essence, but after seeing him live I can credit each with what they contributed to that project, and Bo’s playing was anything but run of the mill. Catch them if they come though your town. Scott.

ScottParticipantStan, my band (also from Illinois) plays 2 Lucinda tunes. Drunken Angel and Essence. To put things in the proper context, we live in a cultural wasteland area and most bar patrons are content to hear live acts play the same stuff they heard on their ClearChannel classic rock station on the way to the club. Our core audience, who are discriminating listeners, appreciate our versions, but the majority of the crowd probably doesn’t know who Lucinda even is. Our somewhat revved up version of Essence usually goes over pretty well though. There are at least a dozen more “Lu” songs we’d like to do. Scott.
